Lack of some detail to put EVE silver or gold

From some days now, There is sound in EVE (A big thanks to Ken Thomases). As so, I think EVE is near gold.
This thread is to reference and consider the last few things to do to make EVE gold
If I 've missed something please add it to the list.
Here is my subcription to this list of "to do"

Most important : The problem with the bottom limit of the screen and the impossibility to open reduced windows in EVE when in full screen mode.
Secondary : Two things that may be have to do with direct X compatibility : The lack of trails when ship are travelling and the lack of trajectory line on the map. (trajectory lines are a small gamplay issue. Trails are more cosmeticks but they are more important to me as they are a important graphic in space perception.

My improvement list for eve:

  • Map lines and star colors
  • Mission minimap(it's a Linux nvidia driver bug actually)
  • hardware mouse cursor instead of the emulated cursor
  • Performance improvements
  • stability improvements

Hi Stefan,

Regarding the mission minimap, I have a NVIDIA card on Linux and updating to the latest driver seemed to help a little with the issue, though I still get it corrupted (but not so horribly as before). I also get other graphics corrupted as the ship fitting dialog, the map and sometimes some of the effects, but I think at least the first two are caused by the same issue as the minimap. Have you already found a workaround for it? I used to play EVE with Cedega before switching to Crossover and they didn't had this particular problem.

My distortion of the effects (or actually their texture) may be related to the issue with the ship thumbnails, which lacked some effects on their rendering as well (perhaps illumination or textures?). In addition, the only other thing I experience which makes the app not to qualify for a gold medal is that sound becomes chopped with a certain frequency. I don't know if this is caused by Crossover or by the ALSA driver itself. I think OSS sound was more stable but, on the other hand, if I don't use the ALSA driver I get audio locked by EVE and can't hear any other app simultaneously (like Ventrilo, which we use to communicate while playing).

Anyway, you are doing a great work! :)

My biggest problem with sound fixed now (Thanks so much Ken !) is the map screen.
The problem with the bottom limit is not half as bad, you can use ctrl+tab to cycle through your windows at any time. So you can easily open minimized windows that way. It is somewhat annoying, but doesn't limit the game.
Otherwise I am smelling a Gold medal soon ;)
