Revelations II - new expansion pack

As the CPP is deploying the patch, they already released the latest client and it autoupdated without a hitch.
Start up is smoother now as the login window has no 3D stuff anymore as far as I can see. (no sound still)
Unfortunatly it will probably be some time till the servers are back up and I can test Rev II tomorrow evening at the earliest.
But looking good so far.

I just logged in for the first time after the upgrade and everything runs smoothly. No problem doing the game-client update. I didnt fly in space, were just in station but its runs great no glitches.

Now its just the annoying transparent bug on my MacBookPro thats left.

Hmm...I'm glad it's working for you guys, but I'm getting a crash-to-desktop error after character selection, during the station loading modal dialog. It's exactly like the problems that came about before if "voiceenabled=0" wasn't added to the prefs file.

I know that all the user files have been moved around for this update, but I also heard that CCP nixed the prefs.ini file completely?!? I assume this is an Eve Voice related problem I'm running into, but I can't figure out another way to avoid it. Any suggestions?

It's working just like before for me. Everything is just as bad/good maybe startup is somewhat faster.
Did you check the prefs.ini again if voicenabled is 0 ? (I know stupid question, but the easiest answer is sometimes the right one ;) )
Otherwise maybe a complete reinstall will help.....

Granted, I haven't had much time to be on EVE since the patch but the 20 minutes or so that I was seemed fine. I was able to be on long enough to take a screenshot to post here with no issue so .. so far so good. :)

Jens- That's the problem...I can't find my prefs.ini file. I've got copies of prefs.ini scattershotted about my harddrive now, all with the 'voiceenabled=0' line added to them. The one in eve/cache is not being touched any longer, but I don't know where the new one is supposed to go. What folder is your prefs. ini file in? Thanks-peter

Okay, got it to work. Turns out the new location is:

/Users/user name/Library/Application Support/Crossover/Bottles/bottle name/drive_c/windows/profiles/crossover/Local Settings/Application Data/CCP/EVE/settings/pref.ini

Try saying that three times fast. Added the voiceenabed=0 line and all was good to go.

The file wasn't created there by default, I don't believe, but if you move an old copy there it will be loaded and used. Thanks to the fine people who created fseventer for helping me figure this out. I'm not sure why my prefs file didn't automatically transfer over during/after the patch like everyone else's seems to have, but if anybody else is running into the crash on loading into a station thing this might work.

Still having an issue at the moment with crossover and revelations II on linux (OpenSUSE 10.2)

voiceenabled=0 is set in the new prefs.ini

(Thanks Peter)

And I can now get as far as the character selection screen, when the loading bars says "Done retrieving characters" EvE online will crash

Am I missing something?

I am running OpenSUSE 10.2 on a HP Compaq nc6320 (Xgl has been disabled).

Thanks

I managed to fix the issue,

so I am posting here for anyone else who runs into the same problem.

The problem stems from the driver used for the display device, as I noticed the same problem on my main machine with a dedicated nvidia card.

The moral of the story is not to rely on the default drivers installed by the distro, even though they identify the device correctly.

After compiling the nVidia driver against my running kernel, eve now runs flawlessly, (except the current lack of sound, and the need for the voicenenabled=0)

Now I just need to do the same for this hp laptop (intel 845GM i think).
