EVE Online and CrossOver 6.1 failing on Mac Pro

I downloaded 6.1 to try out with EVE Online. It was previously working with 6.01 and now it fails just at the point where it is entering the station. Attempts to bring up the Control Panel under Bottle Management fails because the entire system locks up and the only way to recover is to shut down the system. This happens even with a totally clean install and download of EVE Online.

I am also unable to roll back to 6.01 as it no longer works either.

To add to this - I tested this with a Mac Book Pro and it was able to successfully migrate over to 6.1.

I was having a problem with 6.1 because it doesn't support my nvidia card. Check out my post. See if that helps you. Good luck.

Jesse,

Are you using a Mac Pro? (Edited: oops, you said as much in your subject line.) The system freeze you describe sounds like a known issue in Mac OS X which is triggered by CrossOver on Mac Pros. We are working with Apple to address it, but have no workaround yet. Sorry.

Is there a way to rollback to 6.01 nicely? Where can I download the older version of CrossOver?

Well, first, Apple believes that the recent update to version 10.4.10 of Mac OS X should fix the problem with Mac Pros freezing up when running CrossOver. Give that a try! :)

Second, you may download any version to which you are entitled from the My Downloads page of the My Account page. There's a little link for older versions.

Third, I would not expect that 6.0.1 would be free of the freeze problem. The freeze is due to a bug in an obscure part of Mac OS X that is used by CrossOver (but by almost nothing else). This is necessary to the proper functioning of CrossOver, regardless of version, so any version may provoke the freeze on Mac Pros, unless they've been updated to 10.4.10 or later.

Can one use a macbook (NON-Pro)?

Yes. The freeze only ever afflicted Mac Pros, never any variety of iMac, MacBook, MacBook Pro, or Mac Mini.

Ok. I've downloaded the library file hack [link=http://www.codeweavers.com/support/tickets/browse/?ticket_id=128446][/link] and it seems to work. Going to try to see if I can get audio working also.

How well does the game run on a Mac Pro with an ATI Radeon X1900 XT? I've been curious about EVE Online for awhile now. Anyone with experience with this card please feel free to chime in.
