EVE on Linux Crossover 6.1

Using Crossover 6.1, I installed EVE. When I launch it, all I get is a black square. The cursor changes to the black EVE arrow, but nothing ever draws into the square. I have no idea how to proceed. Any help?

UPDATE:
I found the thread by Stefan, I'm working through that now.

UPDATE2:
Well, after installing the Arial font, running the MachoNet script, and setting up a virtual desktop I'm so tantalizingly close. I can login, it downloads Bulk Data and whatnot, but when I get to the Character Select screen, it just crashes. I tried envoking the CrossOver wine by hand from within the EVE folder to see if anything interesting dumped to console. The command I used:
/home/amichel/cxoffice/bin/wine --bottle "winxp" --check --wait-children --verbose --start "eve.exe"

And the last of the output (I can provide more if it'd be useful):
err:d3d:IWineD3DDeviceImpl_Reset Cannot change the back buffer format yet
err:d3d:IWineD3DDeviceImpl_Reset Cannot change the device window yet
fixme:d3d_surface:IWineD3DSurfaceImpl_LoadTexture >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 0x501 from glCopyTexImage2D @ surface.c / 1862

My portrait never shows up, so I assume it's trying to draw that, but I'm not sure. So. Close.

Do you have EVE voice enabled ? It causes similar crashes on the Mac, maybe on Linux too.
You can deactivate it in EVEs prefs.ini (it's in EVE cache folder).
Just set voiceenabled=0.
Hope that was the problem.

Alas, the voiceenabled didn't help.

So do I just lose, is that the lesson?
