Crossover 6.1 & Expose'

I've just upgraded from Crossover 6 to the new 6.1

I prefer to run EVE in a Virtual Desktop graphics mode because I use multiple EVE clients at once. But for some odd reason osX's Expose' feature no longer displays my EVE clients since switching from Crossover 6 to 6.1

Any ideas or suggestions on how to make my Expose' work again?

Does anybody else's Expose work? is it just me? :O

Honestly this Exposé thing is a real magic to me; Some windows show up, and some do not ☹️ Slight changes in our window management break or fix it.

I'm afraid the only real fix is to get rid of the X server and use quartz directly. Unfortunately we have no ETA for that yet :-/ Its a really huge task because it needs a cleanup in Wine's internal display driver interface.

But the virtual desktops can be really cool, right 😉 What you can also try is to start an eve client, then press Alt-Return after login to switch it to windowed mode, then start the next one, etc...

I noticed the new default is w/out the Virtual desktop. Which is actually pretty cool but I was unable to get any window title bars to manage multiple windows. I'll play around some more with the different combo's of settings to see if I can get the non-virtual desktop to work.

Guess I'll just have to downgrade back to Crossover 6 if I can't track down what broke Expose, running 3-4 EVE client windows w/out it is a nightmare. Shame though I was really happy to see the 6.1 rendering the pictures and icons.

I'll post more after some intensive tweaking sessions.

Expose' IS working if I disable 'Emulate Virtual Desktop' and run in windows mode. So yay, but running in windows mode like that doesn't give me the title bar to use for moving the window or controlling min/maximizing etc. So it seems mostly imposable to move 2-3 eve windows around in that fashion.

Any tips for getting the window title bar to appear running eve in windowed mode while not using the Emulated Virtual Desktop?

update: Actually there is a place at the top of the window which appears it was for the title bar, and I can even click in it's left corner (in theory where a file menu or x would have been) which causes a pull down menu to appear. But the invisible title bar is a bit annoying. Also w/out the Emulated Virtual desktop the windows don't draw as they are moved so you have to magically guess the position they'll end up in. If the thing would display the window as it moved or even just a mouse curser as it moved that would be lovely. Currently I get no feedback as I'm in drag mode to move a window.

Secondly, when I start a second client it's almost imposable to get it to foreground (whether the client has it's own bottle or is just a second instance). I can't just click the window to bring it to the front if it's overlapped by the first client. Strangely Expose seems to be the only reliable way to actually get them to foreground. Only other way I've found is to click the invisible borked title bar. This is even worse at the login screen.

Finely how do I minimize? ahhh :)

On the the plus side 6.1 seems like wonderful progress for people that just want to run a single client in full screen mode so that's super great. Or for people who don't use Expose.

I know the issue with bringing the clients(or more precice: the main window) to foreground. You either have to use exposé or move the window. Just clicking it fails for some reason. Thats another oddness. Basically I can make the window managed by the window manager, then you can bring them to foreground just fine, but don't show up in expose and aren't moveable, or I make them managed by wine, then you get them in expose, they are movable, but you can't get them to foreground properly. Thats I think because eve has its own ideas of moving the window which conflicts with macos'es ideas of moving it. If Wine manages the window eve is happy, but wine isn't perfect, so it doesn't draw the boarder that windows usually draws when you move the window.

For the missing title bar, Karsten Elfenbein has a hack which gets it working. Maybe I can make you a patched wined3d.dll.so for this purpose. However, I don't know if the hack works on macos, and I have the bad feeling that it will break expose again because it makes the windows macos managed.

Looks like Expose for Emulated Virtual Desktops just doesn't work for anything I run in that fashion, whether its EVE or something else. So I'm just going to hope other people use Emulated Desktops and want Expose too since it's not specific to EVE it seems. I just rolled back to 6.0.1 to work around the issue atm.

Seems a better idea for you guys to just focus getting these minor issues sorted then worrying about helping me with a custom work around. I think everyone can agree it would be much cooler to just get all this ironed out so other people have an easier time of it all in the future than have to go the hack/patch/tweaking route. Thanks for the offer though, but it's really no where near as important to me as it would be to make a nice title bar or Expose in EVD a stable feature of Crossover to continue to help promote this product to the masses. I can stand to wait a few months for a 6.1.00001xxx or whatever bug fix release that might address Expose and Emulated Virtual Desktops or title bars.

OFC since Emulated Virtual Desktops worked w/ Expose fine in 6 & 6.0.1 I'll hold out hope maybe it wouldn't take to long to just fix up that issue in a bug fix release in the near future. crosses fingers

I don't use Expose, i'm not that fancy.
