In some versions of EVE, such as this surprise patch build 364377, the client will download and try and install the patch like it does on windows. This results in a .7z patch file in your bottle that you will need to traverse the directory to /.cxgames/EVE Online-3/drive_c/users/Public/Application Data/CCP/EVE/Downloads and remove that file, download the patch manually and install it with the crossover installer. Then it should work fine. Hope that saves someone else the five minutes of testing that it took me to get that fixed up :)
