Crossover installs app, runs launcher app, but wont start.

I'm using Mac OS X 10.6.3 Installing Euro Truck went smoothly enough. When I try and launch the app, I get the normal windows launch app screen confirming my graphics options, but when I press the start button, It displays a text document with a bunch of HTML or whatever code it is, just like when you open an .exe on Mac. Anybody have any ideas on what to do?

Hi,

Hard to say....going by reports over at wineHQ this app needs

'gecko' (which is the wine equivalent to the Crossover HTML engine
and thus already present). That said, others seem to be having little
issue with the title...hmmm...a couple of questions -- which version
of Crossover are you using? Which release of this app are you speaking
of?...ie; CD/DVD, digital download...other?....

Cheers!

Rupert,

I tried the same with the exact same result. There was no way around it however I fiddled with the settings. So I gave up, then I tried Wine and Winebottler with the same result. There is no way the application will start under Wine, which appearently Crossover is using.
However I am now playing Euro Truck Simulator succesfully and smoothly on my MacBook. I installed Parallels desktop and put a minimalized version of one of my old Win XP on it. The game runs beautyfully and I am trucking across Europe.

Good luck trucker,
Conny

Hi,

Yes, Crossover uses wine...but according to WineHQ this app does work..;

http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=7989

So my guess is this is either a Mac/OSX thing (most of the above winehq results
will be relative to linux) or something video card/driver related -- in any event,
I just wanted to point out that saying "There is no way the application will start
under Wine, ...", when used unqualified by platform/OS, is in error - wine can
start and run this program 8)

Cheers!
