EA 9 Professional seems to work using CXOffice 10.0.3

Hi!

(Also posted in EA 8 Forum )

I have tested to upgrade my EA 8 to EA v9 in CX Office 9.1 as well as installing using the EA 8 installer and it works but not gold. Some UI components is not updated and will have black background (the project browser for example).

I also downloaded the CX Office 10.0.3 trial version and installed EA 9 using the EA 8 installer and it seems to run perfect.

The EA site (search for Linux or Wine) the Wine installation instructions states that you will need CX Office 9.2 to make it work and it might be the problem for me (I have 9.1).

I have a licensed EA Professional version. I have not tried the ODBC connections, team features, or MDA link towards Eclipe. Instructions for the later can be found on Linux installation instruction mention above.

Hi,

I just read the installation instructions linked to above, and they
don't really suit Crossover well -- that is, they cite using winetricks
for certain runtime packages, but we use crossties instead for these things...

If you have a look at the following page, you'll be able to divine which
Crossover runtime support targets you need (as equivalent winetricks targets);

https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0ApwL_nxxrmmcdDFCdUJPYjJ5M25GWDdaUEN4QlpkSEE&hl=en&pli=1#gid=1

....could all be put into a crosstie for EA-9 so the whole installation
procedure was 1-click easy & all automated...

Cheers!

As I wrote above I used the EA 8 CrossTie but selected my own download and renamed the bottle and the result was to my concern in Gold level.

I suggest that we shall start by copying the EA 8 CrossTie and modify slightly for EA 9. This way we can get some feedback from users trying it.

Hi,

The crossover tie for EA-8 will work just as well for EA-9.

Alistair

Hi,

Yes, I realize the version 8 crosstie will work for version 9,
but that in itself does not a crosstie make! =)

I don't have this app, ergo I was just making a suggestion for someone
who -does- own it to create the crosstie. If someone could supply me
with the EA v9 <installedkeypattern> or <installedregistrypattern> then
the job is done basically (the crosstie application profile would call
the EA v8 install profile, so only these couple of things are required)..

Cheers!

Hi Don,

I submitted a crosstie for EA 9.0 this morning.

Alistair

Hi Alistair,

Yeah, I saw that.... you didn't need the install profiles though

(just an application profile would do), and really, both profiles should
lose the reference to CXO-9.1 (the existing reference to CXO-9.0 means
the tie will install/be valid for all CX versions 9.0+), but no big deal,
just trying to minimized redundant data =)

Cheers!
