I tried installing EN8.0 demo version in the CO3.0.1 on my SuSE 9.0 Pro (2.4.21-238) - and it went through flawlessly. The problems arose when I tried to run it. I got the initial screen (welcome screen) but then it hung up. Anyone had a different experience? Or the same?
I was able to install EN8 under CO3.0.1 on my Debian system. I was able to open and convert a library from an older version of EN but the library display is blank except for the preview window. Changing display fonts is of no help.
I tried a little trick suggested in the EndNote 6.0 "Tips & Tricks", which is removing the "Connections" directory in /Program Files/EndNote 8.0. I got an error message (as I should) but I couldn't see it because of the splash screen that never goes away (damn it!). I hit "enter" to proceed (to get rid of the error message) and I saw the EN8.0 window come up for a split second and then the program exited. I have no idea why this is happening, especially if the other advocate got it running well enough to award it a silver star (kudos!). There seems to be a problem with SuSE Linux as I tried to install it on my home computer (SuSE 9.1 Pro as well) and got the same results.
