M$ie70

Tried this year's version in a cx bottle with M$ie70 pre-installed, (WinXP
& then used the *.msi to install.

subjectively, the screen seemed to more stable - doesn't give a instant & stable screen shot,
but rather 'a flickering' graphical screen. not as bad as with ie60 though.

still doesn't like the on-line submit or pre-info type stuff.

Any ideas how to get it to connect to the internet for pre-fill function?

the pre-fill, the verification & the actual on-line submission are all failing to connect,
whether this is a fault in wine/ cx is hard to say. If there is a valid 'net connection,
you would think that it would use it, but that connection fails on a error code 1030 - just what
is issuing that code, e-Tax or cx, ( probably e-Tax) is hard to tell.

For me, I'd skip all of that, if I could just print out a hard copy & mail it in.
ideally, it would be nice to submit on-line, but a hard copy would suffice.

I finally succeeded after several attempts (kept freezing) to fill out E-Tax.
But like you it would not connect to internet to submit the completed form.

The idea of using E-Tax is to help get a fast return... 14 days...
It can take up to 60 days to get a return if submitted by snail mail.

by freezing I mean I literally had to force quit every time, and restart from the saved section.

I use a MacBook running 2 GHz intel Core 2 Duo with OS X 10.6.8

..one of the CW folks asked me to look at this back @ E-tax 2010 (seeing as I'm an aussie), but
unfortunately I couldn't do so ('coz I'm on a disability pension and have no business to conduct
with the ATO) ... ergo, with nothing to lodge it's always been impossible for me to debug what's
going wrong with the online negotiation stuff -- it would be good to get that working...

...if anyone wants to grab a debuglog of that issue, I'd be happy to look it over and see if there's
anything obvious to try ... probably +trace,+seh,+ntdll would be a good debug snoop to begin with..

Cheers!

Don,
can you elaborate on those commands a little - where to place them, etc ...

P

I have a log, but how do I get it to you, Don? Is there a PM function in these forums?

Pierre - to capture a log you use the "Run Command..." tool in the Programs window - just select the bottle and choose the exe to run.

Actually, Pierre got a logfile together for me during the week just gone,
and it seems the issue is an SSL layer handling problem ; Cupcake Ninja
gave him a number of ideas wrt things to try, but I don't know if Pierre
has had a chance to poke at it again yet ; no doubt he'll get back to this
thread in due course...

"There are two different ways you can try to go about this and four different possibilities with them! (

Either Internet Explorer 6 or 7 (two different ways) may help the situation here.

And to get two four different possibilities...

You can install IE6 or IE7 into the bottle and potentially have eTax start working (you'd make a copy of the bottle and try each option in a copy of the bottle... they would have to go 'cleanly' in the bottle... as in, make a copy, install ie6 in the copy; make another copy, install ie7 in that copy).

The other route would be to start with ie6 in a bottle (and start with ie7 in another bottle) and add eTax to each bottle (which may work better)."

I did a clean Install with both types of M$ie & in different bottles, as well.

none of them will connect, coz of the error 1030 😭

generating a self-verified-certificate is another thing - todo....

Edit:- probably not gonna get past the error 1030 thing.
so - no ability to connect to their server.

( print & mail it in) 😒
