e-Sword 9.9.0 Search

Before I file a bug report:

If you installed e-Sword 9.9.0:

How well can you do:

  • Boolean searches;
  • regex searches;
  • "normal" searches;
  • Locate verse;

Which resource type can you do them in?

Which language/ writing system can you do them in?

What version of WINE, or CrossOver are you using?

I'm trying to narrow down whether the issue is with my setup, e-Sword, WINE, or CrossOver.
[I realize that I am vague about the specific issue. It might just be a configuration issue on my part.]

After upgrading to E-sword 9.9, I can't get any Bible search to work. No verses show up with a simple word like love. Any ideas what's up with the search feature?

I'm having the same problems with the search funtion on e-sword. Any ideas on how ti fix the problem?

No verses show up with a simple word like love.

That means that it isn't just my system that doesn't behave as expected.

A message in the thread "Cannot Complete Installation of e-Sword 9.9.0" http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name/?app_id=1459;forum=1;msg=105764 states that a Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable is included.

Whilst there are several other candidates, my guess is that that redistributable file is the culprit.

My workaround is a python script. However, it can only search user created resources.

I have also installed E-Sword through Codeweavers 10 and have noticed the very same issue with searching. I also have the same E-Sword installed directly through Wine and though it has other issues that Codeweavers definitely corrects, there the search feature works perfectly. I'm not sure if this helps or not.

The Crosstie file has been updated to register the VBScript.DLL file which was the culprit. Rebuild the e-Sword bottle with this new Crosstie file and all should be well.

Thanks, Rick! You are a blessing, bro! Working great now!

Thankyou so much!

How do you rebuild the e-Sword bottle with this new Crosstie file? Thank you!
