MAPs and Graphic Modules not working on MAC

Hi, thanks in advance for reading this and helping.

I am running Snow Leopard OS on a MacBook Pro. I have installed CrossOver 9.1.0, and the C4P with e-Sword 9.6.0.

I have tried downloading some of the graphic executables and loaded them into the e-Sword bottle, but the graphics do not display.

Is this a known issue, or have I done something wrong? If the later, how can I undo and start over again?

Hi,

I take it you've read the tips&tricks section here about such things?

http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name/?app_id=1459;tips=1

Let us know...

Cheers!

Yes, I followed the process outlined in Jack's tip, but the older one from 2009 regarding copying files over from a PC installation...I have not tried anything like that...and actually I am not clear about where I would copy the files if it still is a valid tip.

BTW, everything else is working great and I have loaded several other modules including some Spanish language Bibles and references and they all work fine. It is only the graphics that I have problems with. (If I try to preview the graphics for printing, I do see the graphic but only in the print preview window. After viewing it in Print Preview, I get ghosts of the image in the normal viewer window.)

Hi again,

Scrub that....I just had a look in linux, and it's doing the same thing there ;
if it wasn't a known issue before, it is now ;) I can see the problem in debuglog,
so I'll have a closer look at this a bit later and see if there's any resolve. I'll
post back here with any news...

Cheers!

Check the screenshots tab, the 5th screenshot does display a map working on at least one version of Linux. Thanks Again!! Cheers!!!

Indeed, that's what spurned me on to do a quick debug run - it does appear
to have once been working, so I'm suspicious that some kind of regression
has taken place, or, newer revisions of e-Sword itself have introduced some
changes that have broken things for us...later, I can hopefully ascertain
what exactly has happened...

Cheers!

Hi,

Okidoki...I figured out how to get the graphics modules to do their thing
again, and it's not a regression just some changed behavior in the wine registry
and %sysdir% me thinks...(perhaps e-sword has changed a little too, unsure)...

The C4P profile will go offline momentarily as I change things, and will reappear
some 12 or so hours from now (when the Codeweavers staff return to work ;) I may
do up some C4P profiles to install some of the extra content available from the
e-Sword website if anyone's interested? Let me know....

Cheers!

Great, thanks again! So once the update is finished, would the existing e-sword bottle need to be removed before loading the new C4P?

The additional C4P for the references would be appreciated! The following link provides a set of Spanish resources which I have used if interested in building a C4P for Spanish speaking users.

http://iglesiaunion.net/files/eSwordRecursosBasicosEnEspanol20090526.exe

Not sure of the original source of this package, but it can be found on the following site using the "aqui" hyperlink in about the middle of the page:

http://blog.tecnologiaeficaz.com/2008/11/minando-la-biblia-con-e-sword-parte-1.html

They loaded very easily using Jack's tip for loading additional resources into the e-sword bottle.

Cheers!

Hi,

Yes, I would definitely delete existing and reinstall if at all practicable/possible.
The revised C4P profile uses a different bottle type, a different dependency set, and
also installs the latest 9.72 release (it was incremented a day or so ago ;)

I'll go-go-gadget on the additional content C4P profiles over the weekend or such ; it's
basically Jack's procedure just being transposed to automation via C4P. That being the
case, it'd possibly be an idea to create an e-Sword application grouping so all the extras
and addons are easily found via a link on -this- C4 page - I'll ask Jack about doing that,
he should warm to it I think...

Thanks for the link above -- I know there's a large volume of material 'out there' for
e-Sword, so if anyone else wants a C4P done for such, just mention it here ; I'll either
advise how to do it all yourself, or do it for you as is the case here 8)

Cheers!

Hey Don! I have loaded the new C4P, verified that it is using a WIN2000 bottle, but still am having the same problems. :(

I only loaded 1 graphics module (the Mediterranean one) and I loaded the Spanish resources module I referred to above.

Thanks,
David

Hey there,

That's a bit odd....I just checked things on my 11,2 iMac and, granted it's a different
machine makeup & videochip etc, just using the C4P profile to install e-Sword and then
manually installing the Mediterranean mapset works...I'm running OSX 10.6.4, I wouldn't
-expect- machine differences to matter here...you might try installing the corefonts package
into the same bottle, just to make sure that omission is not participle here, otherwise
I'd be grasping at straws to explain this without some debuglogs or such...the Codeweavers
Ninjas have that sort of Mac hardware too... I don't think that's it though, I just can't
immediately dismiss it outright.

I suppose it would also be worth checking/changing the Windows Version for the bottle from
win2000 back to win98 and seeing if that makes any difference. This is one of the obstacles
of doing C4P profiles when you haven't got every platform variation at your fingertips - I
check against the 11,2 iMac, Debian 5.0.6 w/ ati&nvidia and this LFS based instance...and this
is nowhere near enough 8)...

...if we can discover the cause/resolve for your issue, the C4P profile can be easily changed
accordingly and I can back check that for sanity with the machines here....mind you, the next
release of Crossover (9.2) is not all that far away, and that -may- impact on things here one
way or the other, we'll need wait and see. If you're interested in grabbing a debuglog and
uploading it, let me know and I'll post back some details on what to do. That might lend me
a clue as to what's not working for you that seems to be working here...ie; compare logs..

Cheers!

If you can post how to do the debug log, I will be glad to pull that for you. In the meantime, I will try to blow away everything and re-install it. I am not real sure on what I need to do to change the bottle to win98...I had problems installing e-sword manually and never got it to work until I found the C4P. I also am not real sure on how to include the fonts seperately.

THANKS!
CHEERS!

Hi,

I just rechecked this on the Mac while doing the C4P profiles for
the Spanish resource pack and a couple of the map add-ons - it all works
surprisingly well. If after a totally clean reinstall it still doesn't
work for you, you can grab a debuglog as per the details on this page..;

http://www.codeweavers.com/support/wiki/SubmitTechSupportLog

Do not tick and extra debug channels (I'm unsure of what exactly could be
at fault). Once you have the debuglog, gzip if you can and then upload it
to here. Use the password 84aFPn5VUM to login and upload the file.

Cheers!

Hi,

We now have a grouping for the e-Sword related things.,,;

http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/group/?app_parent=8130

C4P profiles for what's currently there have all been done, I'll add to them
as time allows (or as requests for content dictates ;)...

@David -- would you mind checking the Spanish resources entry & C4P if you get
a moment? Also give it a ranking/medal if you would -- not being a Spanish speaker,
I really can't rank that component with any authority ;)

Cheers!

Hi Don-

Sorry, I have been traveling a lot and have not tried working on this much lately.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling twice now and still have problems with the maps working. However, I am not for certain that Crossover is being completely uninstalled. When I reinstall it, it acts like an existing version is there already. Can you please send me direction on how to correctly uninstall the Crossover program? The last install complains of missing msls31.dll file.

BTW, I did install the Spanish C4P and it installed and worked fine.

Thanks,
David

Hi,

To be honest, I haven't rechecked this app (because) someone went and changed
the C4P profile away from what I -knew- worked on 3 different linux boxes and
my Mac, and I've not been back to check is such changes work or not. I had some
issues with maps here as well on one machine, (which is why the c4p ended up as it
did)...but it seems someones else knows better than I and so even if I find it
doesn't work, it won't be me fixing things - it'll be someone else. I will get
around to rechecking it (sometime) but I'm effectively 'out of this loop' now...

As for uninstallating...I don't think that would play any (although it's possible).
Read the following page;

http://www.codeweavers.com/support/wiki/CXOfficeMacRemoval

If that doesn't help, let me know will you?

Cheers!

After deinstalling CrossOver and reinstalling it and e-sword, all of the graphics and the Spanish Resource C4Ps are working just fine. I also downloaded some of the other graphics from the e-sword site and have loaded them all with no problems. One issue I did find was that the SMITH graphics, which are 38MB, are very slow to refresh and load. They were the last ones I installed, so I am not sure if the performance issue is because of their size or a cumulative of all of the graphics being loaded in the bottle. If you are patient enough though, the graphics are all viewable.

Thanks for your help Don!
