I'm running Debian Etch. I installed e-Sword ver 7.7.7 and 98 of the additional "addon" .exe modules using cxoffice 5.0.0 and 5.0.1. That included nearly all of the bibles, commentaries, dictionaries, graphics/maps, STEP formatted books, the flash player training demos, and the user manual in .pdf format. Like all of the other addons the 105 page tutorial .pdf manual is shipped in an .exe that contains it's own setup wizard.
I used a single win98 bottle (now the default) for IE6, e-Sword, and the addon .exe setup modules. I installed everything in serial fashion (one right after another) using the Crossover Installation Wizard. Note: I also purchased the Lockman Foundation NASB module that requires an activation key. It installed and worked with no problems.
I have found the e-Sword program to be very compatible. Here are a few minor hiccups that I've noticed after a week or so of daily use:
(a) Resizing of the contents sidebar panel in the STEP reader module is sometimes necessary. This happens whenever the mouse tooltip "popup" gets in the way while you are trying to make a selection from the Table of Contents. Alternatively you can always use the keyboard tab and arrow keys to make your selection.
(b) Windows "Help Contents" and "Search" don't work from the e-Sword program menu. Alternatively you can use the .pdf manual or watch the online training (Flash player) demonstrations in your browser at http://www.e-sword.net/training.html . You can also download and install the Flash file locally to your drive_c/Program Files/e-Sword folder using the Training addon module and the cxoffice install wizard.
Note: To view the supplied e-Sword Windows .hlp file I grabbed winhelp.exe and winhlp32.exe from my old Win98 Second Edition CD using cabextract. I installed those files in the Windows folder of my cxoffice win98 bottle. Then I created a KDE application launcher with the command: /opt/cxoffice/bin/wine --cx-app winhlp32.exe Y:/.cxoffice/win98/drive_c/Program Files/e-Sword/e-Sword.hlp
