Loads via Steam but main window incomplete

The game installs via Steam just fine, it even launches and successfully gets to the main menu with audio playing (several Windows users get hung up on the loading screen right before the audio starts playing - so go CrossOver!).

However once you start a game the main part of the window is... incomplete: https://imgur.com/a/DphKkHs

Some sort of a graphics issue - missing shaders? So close yet so far!

Same issue. ^^

Disappointed, but not surprised. Hoping something happens in the near future...

I want really want to play this game!!

Then make sure you vote this entry up if you would like to see them address it!

Same experience. Hardware: MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2020, Four Thunderbolt 3 ports) OS: macOS Big Sur 11.2, 16 GB RAM, Intel Iris Pro 1.5 GB memory.

Also I watched Kathryn of Sky's demo walkthrough videos (first episode here: https://youtu.be/fScIOw07QRw) of the game on YouTube, so I knew what to look for. The intro/prologue flyby and landing should be high resolution, finely rendered ship flyby of a star, through a solar system, and landing on a well-rendered planet. My rendering was of that, but with super high specular blur, even while on-screen (tutorial) overlays were sharp and crisp with crisp graphics and typography. Also sound was grandiose, and vocal tutorial overlay was high quality.

After landing, the rendering of the planet was incomplete, blurry, with grey water and dark blue land (I think - it's a guess). The grey actually disappeared as I browsed through hud elements and popup windows.

Some popup windows, like the tech tree, rendered fine and I could see and even research techs and the results were the same as shown in the Kathryn of Sky walkthrough. Others, like Inventory, and the build/replicator popup windows had the correct looking chrome, but the internal panel that you normally hover over and click different elements within was a rainbow gradient with no real discernable graphics elements within.

Not playable since you need to see resources on the fully rendered planet to interact with and you need to be able to see the build/replicator and inventory windows to be able to progress in the game.

But it's SO CLOSE, I wonder if the developers might be able to compile a Mac version, if Codeweavers can't get to it.

Same issue here and I find something more, and seems it relates to DirectX.
Actually when you right click the Steam bottle in Crossover, go settings--> DXVK Backend for D3D11, then if you start Dyson sphere program and load a saved game, it actually can load the game more than what Eric posted, but just the land, the conveyor, the logistics drone and logistics vessel.
Hope this can helps a bit, and really wish Crossover can fully support DSP

Hi all,

I'm not familiar at all with this game, but I do see a huge improvement between CrossOver 20.0.4 and the latest CrossOver 21 nightly build. I would recommend that those of you who are BetterTesters check it out :) Also note that the game looks a lot better with DXVK disabled on 21.

Thanks,
Meredith

Thanks Meredith - I have a new 16" M1 Max MBP coming - this will be on of the first games I try again once it gets here in a week or so :)

To anyone seeing this,

I was able to get it to run (almost) successfully on my M1 MB Air (8 core GPU). The only problem I have experienced so far is that the character doesn't load, which is better than the character loading and everything else not loading.

I achieved this by enabling the DXVK backend in the bottle settings which got the graphics to load properly then also loading Performance ESync as well which made me get around an extra ~10fps

I'd recommend to anyone running this that you turn down your resolution to 1440x900 as it made the details in the game look better than when it was at native resolution.

On a new game I was consistently getting 60FPS (couldn't get the FPS to unlock for some reason) when I was landed (I skipped the prologue as I was struggling to do it on a trackpad, although have to mention that it was running perfect during it), on my early game save I was getting around ~40-50FPS and on my early late game save I was able to get a consistent 30FPS (think the game is hard capping at 30).

Im happy with this performance, seeing as my desktop with a 2060 in it is barely able to achieve better than these FPS I'm getting on my Mac.
