Dwarf Fortress is available in native versions for both MacOS X and Linux. So why play it in CrossOver??

Why? Because traditionally it only ran on windows. The latest dev version occasionally lags for OSX/linux and performance has sometimes been dramatically different - even enough to make a wine/crossover version faster than the native...
But you're right. It probably doesn't need to be here.
Most, if not all utilities (eg Dwarf Therapist) aren't available for mac yet.
I've managed to get some of them working alongside DF in crossover.
Were you able to get Dwarf therapist to work in crossover? I've been trying, but it opens up, I hit "connect to DF", then "read dwarves" and it just sits there after that. I'm running an older version of DF, also in crossover
