DDO crashing entire laptop just before character selection screen

I installed DDO just fine in a Windows 10 64-bit bottle. The launcher runs fine. However, when the 64-bit client starts, it gets to the loading screen, the blue progress bar finishes, music starts, then it locks up the laptop (even running in FullScreenWindowed mode with two displays) and crashes the entire laptop a minute or two later.

I've tried every "fix" I could find online but nothing changes the behavior.

I'm on a MacBook Pro M1 running Monterey.
