Losing focus hangs the client

I'm unable to alt-tab away from the DDO client to another application without hanging the client, as does anything else where the client loses mouse focus (running in windowed mode and clicking on the menu bar or launcher, KDE notificatons running, etc).

I'm on Fedora 17 using KDE most of the time (also happens under the new Gnome, XFCE, and other desktop environments). I have a nVidia card. My steam games and GOG games all work without hanging when losing focus, so I suspect it's a specific DDO dll or configuration option.

This is a game that almost requires web browsing in the backgroud, as nearly any useful reference information is in a wiki found outside the game client, so this is a particularly pernicious problem. I have to either ask my guild members to look things up for me or close the client, web browse, reopen the client, log into my character, and hope all this is done within 15 minutes or I'm kicked out of my adventure and have to start over.

If anyone knows how to access the DDO wiki from within the client that would be a great substitute until I can get a real fix. I can access the store, the forums (athough search doesn't seem to be working right) and MyDDO. I can't find the wiki.

I'm unable to offer anything but "condolences" for Fedora's behavior.... I run on a Mac.

However, there are two routes for you to check -- one is to visit the WINE HQ DDO page and post there.

It does not seem terribly active, however.

The second is to explore the DDO Lua interface. (Assuming there really is one. I do not know.) I've been playing LOTRO exclusively for the past year, so I don't know much about the DDO interface, however, there appears to be an assortment of plugins for DDO -- visit:
http://www.lotrointerface.com/downloads/index.php
Many (maybe even all) of the things listed there appear to be purely cosmetic -- i.e. "Skins" -- you will have to read the individual descriptions to verify what is what.

You might get some more direct info with threads related to: http://my.ddo.com/madfloyd/2010/08/27/inventory-enhancements/

DDOcast mentions luas in episode 176: http://www.ddocast.com/2010/07/episode-176/

These things appear to be about a year old. -- but then LOTRO's Lua situation has been quiet about that long, waiting for Turbine's next update to the Lua interface.

The thing I was looking for -- in LOTRO there is a thing called LOTRO Compendium which "lists everything" -- don't know if something similar exists for DDO.

Thanks for the answers.
