DDO won't start - Crash report enclosed

I have tried to install DDO 3 separate times (to be sure I had all the steps correct). I had one "issue" during install that Taskkill could not be installed and I selected "Skip this step" so I could continue. Following the remaining instructions I launch the game via PyLotR - the game shows the initial splash screen - then "hangs / crashes" with the hourglass stuck on the screen.

I am running the latest version of Crossover games (10.3.0) on Mac OS Lion 10.7.2 on a MacBook Pro 17 inch with a NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M 512 MB graphics card.

The dndclient.log file shows the following...

Hi...

...thanks for reporting taskkill failing ; I've updated the download
link and it will start working again soon..

...the dndclient output is ostensibly useless ; to find out what's going
wrong. you need debug crossover...see;

Will - do - I also want to report that I tried LotR as well and get a similar crash... the application crashes after showing the splash screen. At least Turbine is consistent...

I looked into that option for a log - the issue is I think the error is in dndclient.exe and that is launched from PyLotRO. I can't run it directly via that example. I'll have to find another way to generate the log file.

This sounds like the audio problem again. And, yes, it is the Turbine client crashing.

That is what happens after the splash screen. I forget how it was finally determined, but see the Tip & Trick that worked for me ... "Client Crashing just before character selection screen."

I had already done that and no success...

Still not running

..m'kay, not that either ...it often becomes a process
of elimination, but, perhaps this endeavor here is about
to become a moot venture. That is to say, the crossover 11
betas are not that far away, and at that time the winecore
crossover is currently based on is going to jump some 30
wine-devel revisions in a single bound -- the playing field
is going to change considerably, and results gathered here
(or issues encountered) may be resolved, still apparent,
and/or other issues may become apparent...

...ftr, I restaged this app's crosstie some time back, and,
I've been maintaining it ever since -- you should know, as
per the para above is about exactly where I am with this
right now...ie; I already know, now, that I'll likely need
to restage the install profile again, and this one is up
near the top of my list...(plus turbine/pylotro have been
cranky of late), but like I say, some of the fixups in the
newer winecore should help there...

...currently my best advice would be to sit on your hands
for a bit, and recheck all of this in the upcoming cxbetas..

Cheers!

Will do - If I find some time I may try and poke at learning how to debug etc.

Another question is trying to install both LotR and D&D Online - Each installation hijacks the PyLotR install for it's own bottle.

Not certain what your issue is... I have --DDO/Lotro-release/lotro-bullroarer -- All installed on my system.

I have an external hard drive linked to ~/Library/Application Support/CrossOver Games. Not only does this solve the space issue, but also improves performance.

They are all in separate bottles and all have their own unique PyLotRO installs. And in Fact, I have multiple installs other than the production games, for the testing I do.

So what happens to PyLotRO? -- if you launch CXG and go to the programs menu, there is a different PyLotRO visible for each bottle. This allows one to use the "unique" copy of PylotRO in each bottle with that game without having to constantly reconfigure PyLotRO.

I also "stick" in the dock, the current "ring" for PyLotRO I am running with.

While it is possible to install both DDO and LOTRO in the same bottle along with PyLotRO, that is confusing from an operational point of view. (I have done it, but because I do have multiple versions, found keeping them straight an issue.)
