Here we go again!

Well, the updates to the data centers on 2/23 are supposedly done, but the game won't let me in, and, interestingly, the situation seems to be hobbling both my WinXP box and the iMAC... It's 9:24 CST on Tuesday 2/23.

DDO.com forum suggested this is a problem with the launcher being pointed at old DNS? I turned off everything including cable modem and router, and rebooted, and problem still present. Also did the "ipconfig /flush dns" trick suggested in the forum on the WinXP box and have not had any luck with that.

It could be a DNS problem caused by your ISP's DNS server not refreshing the cached IP's of the DDO servers so it maybe best to try to manually set your DNS settings to a different server and see if that fixes it.

Here is a site that lists open DNS servers you can point your machines to (or point your router to them, if it allows it, then the DNS settings will change for all your machines):
http://www.dnsserverlist.org/

Pick a few from the listing, point your machine to them (on your Mac you can go into your network settings, then into the advanced button on your network adapter and add the servers to the DNS tab, then drag them to the top of the list) and then try it out. I've found that due to local caching you might need to reboot/clear your DNS cache to get it working.

If it works, your ISP's DNS is probably where the issue is, which may or may not be easy to have them resolve depending on the organization. If it doesn't look like they are going to fix it in short order you can just stay on a different DNS server for awhile until it is eventually resolved. There are some other local machine tricks we could use if you want to continue using your ISP's server (define the DNS settings for the DDO servers manually on your computer), but this is probably the easiest method to test.

I ended up just giving up and going to bed, and in the morning I was able to log on with the iMAC without any difficulty whatsoever. I had shut down the computer for the night.

Yeah, in that case it was probably your ISP's DNS still had the old servers cached and wasn't giving them up. Glad to hear it's resolved.
