DDO crashes to black screen

I finally got the game installed under CXGs 10.1, it allows me to play for a short time, then the screen goes black, I then have to use the command-r to force it to quit. I am using a Mac Pro, and I used to play it under 8.14, but it was a pain to run them under different versions of crossover games. Anyways, got any ideas why it crashes to a black screen???? Thanks

See if my comments under the topic: "Unable to start DDO" help find about what is happening.

Hi,

I seem to be having the same problem, crashing to a black screen on a mac. It's happened twice loading new zones and once just walking about town now. I am running on:

Crossover Games 10.1
2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Macbook
OSX 10.6.7
2 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M

I am getting a ton of the following errors, which explains my horrible performance at the moment, but I thought I should include them in case they are also indicative of the real problem.

165221001.541: 0x390000B0: error: The particle system has specified a holding location id [0x10000022] but the model setup has no such holding location. This will cause the particle system to not display!

And here is the actual crash report, immediately following the above errors:

And that's it. Thanks for any help in advance.

See "Tips & Tricks" "Client crashing just before character selection screen"

That is what solved the client crash problem for me.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I had already done that before these crashed started (I added openal32.dll to the library and switched it to Native(Windows)), so I assume it must be something else. Well, I'm sure it's related based on this. A couple of times it has managed to quit the program on its own after freezing on a black screen, instead of just hanging forever as it does other times. When it does fully quit it gives me the message, "opena32DLL: still didn't find exact match, picking first".
