Super slow

DDO seems to work fine, except a huge annoying issue.
For some reason, even on the lowest settings, it's slaggish and not really playable.

While on Windows [as excepted, I only mention it so you know it's not that I don't have bad hardware] it works perfectly fine over high graphics.

Any ideas how to make it faster and not slaggish?

Not without any information.

What kind of information do you require?

[Also, I tried setting my amount of memory I have in regedit]

Heh... give us SOMETHING to go on, please.

This is very likely a general graphics problem under Linux. The first place I'd look would be your OpenGL drivers. For cxgames to run at a decent clip you need an ATi or Nvidia graphics card AND the commercial drivers for that card.

Graphics Processor: GeForce 7100 / nForce 630i
NVIDIA Driver Version: 185.18.36
Memory: 512 MB

CPU: 2 * 2.13GHz CPU's.
RAM: 2GB

Running Archlinux x86, up to date.
Mesa version: 7.5.1

Well that is a start, how have you got CXG configured (ie what Windows version is it mimicing) and care to define "slaggish" in proper terms, if not have fun.

Edit: how is you net connection? Wired/wireless, what chipset, drivers, etc. It could be poor network perfomance causing a knock on effect.

Imitating Win2K.

Slaggish = Real slow. Seems like frames go in bursts every couple of seconds making the game unplayable, yet usable for config / chat. So you'd see some movement real quick for a moment then it halts for a few seconds and another movement and so on.

P.S.
Sorry for acting like... shouldn't even mention.
Lack of visible guidelines make me fail in error reporting :(

Wired connection.
Ethernet controller: nVidia Corporation MCP73 Ethernet (rev a2)
With whatever drivers my Linux picked when it saw it. So I guess the drivers might be in the Kernel. No real clues about 'em.

2-5Mbit [Yes, it vary randomly] data plan that seems to work just fine.

Is there any other information I can provide to help you help me?
[Crossover Games 8.0.0]

Also, it seems like the slowdowns are in both bare wine and crossover.

If you have access to Crossover Games 7.2.2 you could try that as some people have reported performance issues with Lord of the Rings Online and CXG 8 (it uses the same game engine), failing that my suggestion would be to raise a support ticket.

Of course is the actual advocates of this game (of which I'm not one) know any better please say so.

I get that when trying to run it with 7.2.2, any ideas?

To be honest I don't know, I'd be inclined to raise a support ticket about that (mention that you have tried 8.0.0 but get sluggish performance, maybe post a link to this thread).

That error indicates a more fundamental problem not having anything to do with the game. It suggests a corrupted copy of CrossOver Games or an error during registration.
