Unsupported DirectX Version

Has anyone figured out a way to start the game with the new launcher update?
I thought Crossover supports DirectX 11.0 through DxVk and MoltenVK, is it a configuration problem?
I tried creating a new Windows 10 64bit bottle with dxvk-1.9.3 and it still gives me the error message.

yep, the same here on both Neverwinter and STO tried setting the vendor id and device id in the registry and still would not work.

Are you running macOS or Linux?
It would be very interesting to see if the game works fine on Linux.
Than we would know it is a problem with the Vulkan to Metal translation layer.

M1 Mac with Monterey

Same problem here. M1 Max, Mac OS 12.2.1 (Monterey), using DXVK. Win10/64 Bottle with DirectX for Modern Games installed.

Hi, I booted a live USB of Manjaro today, and the game ran without any issue in Crossover.
So it is an incompatibility in MoltenVK.

This is a copy from the current reply to my support ticket:
Thank you for your patience. After further review, it is indeed a deficiency in MoltenVK, as it lacks the extensions to run the titles. We are working on filing the bug reports for it, but as it is related to this function, it will have to be addressed down the line in an update to CrossOver once we are able to implement a proper fix.

I was going to suggest you put in a support ticket. Great to see they are aware of the issue and that it just requires a fix to implement the appropriate extensions.

To the team - these games ran fine as Directx 11 titles, it's just the launcher not detecting Directx 11 support. It kicked out an error for several months and now won't let you run at all because the launcher thinks you only have Directx 10 support. Would appreciate a more in depth dive by the Crossover team.

As a side note, this is on the Geforce Now platform and is an alternative until it works in Crossover.

Their great proprietary software got compromised and they shutdown most of their services. I would wait until this issue is resolved before give them your login credentials.

Hi there,

I could use your support.

First, some background information:
Currently, our problem is that we can't run Neverwinter; it errors out quickly after we start the Launcher.
The problem is that the Cryptic Launcher is only 32bit. Currently, MoltenVk (and DxVk?) can't translate 32bit applications on macOS.
The DirectX feature level compatibility check is part of the 32bit Launcher; therefore, MoltenVK isn't started yet, so we get the error message. Further information: https://github.com/KhronosGroup/MoltenVK/discussions/1551#discussioncomment-2466812

Since I don't know how long it will take to get 32bit MoltenVK translations, I opened a ticket in the arcgames forum.
I asked if they could add a launch parameter for the Cryptic Launcher to skip the DirectX check. Something like `crypticlauncher.exe --nocheck``. If this check doesn't happen, the Launcher will open and give us the possibility to start the game. It could be possible that the game runs well like before, but this is uncertain.

Brilliant job tracking down the issue.

22.1 now supports DirectX 10/11 32-bit apps which addressed the issue of 32-bit support for Molten VK.

Hi, thank you and especially the MoltenVK team for the 32bit DirectX support.
I was exited reading it in the news, unfortunately due to the long waiting period and the lack of communication from the Cryptic developers I decided to play a different MMO, which is natively supported in macOS. Nevertheless it is still a massive accomplishment and I hope that someone who still plays this game will test and verify if the game runs correctly now.

Kind regards,
Jakob

I recently tried to run this installer under 22.1.1 and got a bunch of errors installing True Type fonts. Then I got to a "Microsoft XML Parser" installation which just hung.
