PidGen.dll

Hey everybody, I need some help!

So I insert the CD of DS2, and all goes well using CxGames 9.1, until it says I need PidGen.dll.
I read up, and downloaded mfc42.dll (or something like that), then placed it in my DS2 Bottle, under C/Windows/System32
Then, I tried installing again, in the bottle I placed the file in, but it still asks for it. Any help would be great! :D

Hi,

Firstly and for the record, mfc42.dll is provided by the built in install
target 'Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 Redistributable' -- you can find this in
the 'Runtime Support Components' area of the cxinstaller GUI.

As for pidgen.dll I see another user has encountered a similar thing in
the WineHQ AppDB forum of DS2...see;

http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=4315

Perhaps some of the details there may be of help?

Cheers!

Thanks a lot! It worked, installing what you said in the bottle!
But I have another problem though. After it installs fine, and I hit play, it says:
"the program insde7tmp has encountered serious problems and needs to close."
Any ideas?

Hi,

Firstly (and I don't think this is the problem, I'm just mentioning that..) an
official patch for this game is available to update it to version 2.2 ...see;

http://www.softwarepatch.com/games/dungeonsiege2.html

Now the hard stuff.....are you using Mac/OSX? Even if you're not, the
following would apply...

Apparently it seems the disc based version of this title incorporates
a DRM copy protection mechanism. Due to the design on the Mac OSX
scsi drivers, these systems do not work on the Mac (and many don't
work in linux either even though the linux scsi driver does allow
direct scsi access to the CD/DVD drive) - to read more about this see;

As such, if you live in a country where your government allows the
circumvention of such DRM mechanisms, you can legally apply an
unofficial patch to get the disk based version running. However,
due to DMCA laws and regulations in the US that apply to the content
on the Codeweavers website, it is -illegal- to expound upon those
measures in the C4 forums....see Jeremy White's posting here;

http://www.codeweavers.com/support/wiki/dmca

The program 'insde7tmp' is part of the disc based DRM used I believe.

Hope this helps...

Cheers!

Hm, they so much for the help!
I could make much since of this (I'm 15 :P), but thanks for trying!
I'll just hope it works with Windows 7 when my dad dual-boots my Mac. (:
