I get the same error in both wine and cxg
the game is not exiting itself. when I try to start it AFTer the error, steam says I have to end duke first.

hmm, thats odd. duke crashes when that pops up for me. I dont have to kill the process at all. what did you do whil installing?
as well, what distro and version of KDE are you on? (that kde skin looks nice btw).

I'm not getting further.
I'm on kubuntu 10.10, nvidia gtx460 (driver: 260.19.06), cxg 10.1
I also tried wine 1.3.21 - I get the same error. 1.3.22 might be better according to appdb.
Edit: same in 1.3.22
