...and i get an error report from the DNF stating "failed to create DirectInput Mouse Device"

I don't really have time to look into this right now unfortunately. figured I'd make a thread about the error tho.

Installing this as I'm typing. I also submitted an entry to C4 for the Demo as that is the place to discuss issues we have with the Demo

For me it just crashes and wants to submit some bug report.

I installed and tried to run the demo in my existing steam bottle.

After it runs the 2008 Redist it crashes to a crash report

Fault Reason ==
DukeForeverDemo.exe caused an EXCEPTION_SINGLE_STEP in module <UNKNOWN> at 0023:0094DDF0

Registers ==
EAX=002210B8 EBX=0033F698 ... etc.

Ran the Directx setup and got rid of the failed to create directinput device, now freezing on loading.

Edit: now i'm still getiin the error, strange :\

everyone, please keep in mind this demo is actually an old beta they used at a conference. the retail game could work far better. who knows.

Has there been any more news on this? I have tried myself and have gotten the "Failed to create Directinput mouse device" I've been trying to find a way to get around this, someone had suggested to use mouse keys, but that didn't work either. Has anyone tried getting the full game to work?

the full game comes out on the 14th (for north America). I'll give it a shot some time after then.

I know the error came back for you, but where did you get your DirectX from? Maybe I can try it and maybe permanently get rid of that DirectInput error.

the directx runtimes probably came from steam. they install themselves before first run.

I bought the full game on STEAM getting the EXCEPTION_SINGLE_STEP crash on startup.
