Getting WebDAV to work?

I'm using Dreamweaver 8 with Crossover 8 on OpenSuSE 11.1 and KDE 4.2.4.

I create a new site and configure it to use WebDAV, but it fails. I know the settings work because I copied them from a Dreamweaver installation on Windows.

Here is the error I get when I try to test the connection in the Site Management dialog:

An HTTP error occurred. Dreamweaver cannot make a connection to host. Access denied. The file  
may not exist, or there could be a permission problem.

As I said, the same settings work on Windows, so I know this error is misleading.

Searching around the web did not yield anything. Any suggestions?
