Hey

I have installed dragon age origins onto my computer...
i have snow leopard 10.6.5
i have crossover games 9.2 and just installed using "other application" not a c4p or anything
but none of the videos work?? not the intro or during the game.
HELP!!!
it just shows me a black screen but the sound works...
does anyone know how do fix this? any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,

I would try installing via C4P first -- it provides other dependencies
the game requires.

Cheers!

hi

i've tried multiple times with the c4p and everytime i get Microsoft Visual C ++ Runtime Library Runtime error or something similar and i can't even launch the game...
is there a reason for this?
without it i can get into the games and everything but the videos work

Thanks

Hi,

That should not happen -- I don't have this title so I can't check things.
During installation, a debug log is created -- when the c++ error occurs,
cancel the installation and upload the logfile to rapidshare or the like
and post the download link back here -- the C4P should work...

**Can anyone else with this title verify the C4P profile is working as expected?

Cheers!

sorry
i'm not the most amazing with computers where would this file be saved?
it told me that an application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorectly?

okay dont worry. i got them working thanks to jennifer rivera in another post
thanks!
:D

Don,

I can confirm I am having this same problem with the C4P file and run-time error. I had given up after multiple attempts and deleted the bottle. I will try it again today and post the install log if I encounter this error again.

Okay, after another attempt, I have gotten Dragon Age running flawlessly. I'm not exactly sure what I did differently this time compared to other attempts. Videos, inventory, character portraits, intro video, menus... All appear to be working. No apparent graphic errors, no crashes. I have the install logs for both the initial Dragon Age install and after patching, in case Codeweavers' staff is interested.

What follows is my step-by-step how-to on installing Dragon Age: Origins from the original PC-DVD:

  1. Insert DVD, of course.
  2. Ran the Dragon Age C4P file.
  3. All dependencies, including PhysX, installed properly.
  4. Went through the Dragon Age installer. Completed successfully. Gave me Runtime Error 6034. Clicked okay. Crossover reported successful install, refreshed menus, etc.
  5. Attempted to run unpatched Dragon Age from the launcher. It ran the first run diagnostic utility (graphics setup), then gave me a Runtime Error 6034.
  6. Installed Dragon Age patch 1.04 into the same Dragon Age bottle. Patch installed successfully.
  7. Ran the game and it now works correctly. (I did have to enable sound in the .ini file.)

The only thing I noticed that may make a difference from my previous attempts is that I ran the unpatched Dragon Age, allowed it to go through the first run, then patched and ran the game. My other attempts were adding dependencies for the unpatched Dragon Age (which made the patched version prompt an error), and the other was installing the game, and patching without attempting to run it.

Kind of at a loss what happened, but hey, it's working.
