Dragon Age: Origins Forum

I have installed dragon age origins via the c4p file, and have patched it to 1.03. After I launch the game, the menus and everything display just fine, even the background of the main menu is fine. But when I get in game, I just get a black screen for what would be character models/textures of any kind. I was able to get most other than the models to show up when I set the graphics to as low as possible, but still unplayable. Has anyone else ran into this? I would realy like to play this game thanks for any help.

I had a similar problem, but not all the skin textures were missing, just the character portraits and the inventory/skill/etc portraits. Anyway, in my case, this registry setting fixed it for me:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Wine/Direct3D/UseGLSL = "enabled"
The C4P has this one:

HKCU\Software\Wine\AppDefaults\DAOrigins.exe\Direct3D\UseGLSL = "enabled"
Maybe the two are supposed to be equivalent but in fact are not?

If you need help changing your bottle's registry, let me know.

Edit: I'll have to try both registry entries, to see if they both work.

The first registry setting affects the whole bottle. The second is intended to only affect a single program, based on its filename.

Of course, if the game comes in some variant that uses a different filename, the second one won't match and thus won't be effective. The solution is not change the C4P to make it bottle-wide, but to add keys for all of the appropriate program filenames.
