Dragon Age: Origins Forum

Hey folks,

How on earth is everybody getting this thing working? I have OS X 10.6.4, Crossover Games 9.2, and Dragon Age 1.02, and for some reason I can't make it work at all. I installed using the c4p file, patched Dragon Age to 1.02 (I haven't been able to get the 1.03 patch to work). Anyway, after installing and patching, I used the .ini file to re-enable the sound, then I started up the game. I've got the graphics on the lowest settings and all, but when I try to start a new game, I consistently get the loading screen for a while, followed by an error saying the main .exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close.

So my question is, what am I missing?

I have not tried the 1.02 patch but the game runs fine with the newest 1.04 patch:

Just tried that, and got the same error. Here are the graphics settings I'm using, maybe something's wrong here:

Resolution: 800x600
Full-screen unchecked
Vertical sync unchecked
Graphics detail: low
Anti-Aliasing: off
Texture detail: low
Frame-buffer effects unchecked

I haven't touched this in awhile, but didn't the earlier version have DRM?

What platform and hardware are you running as well on the Apple side of things?

Hardware-wise, I've got 2.1 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, GMA X3100.

It will be released in a few days and will include the various game addons.

I plan on purchasing the download edition and am hoping it will work through Crossover Games.
If your interested you could always wait a bit and when I have purchased the download and tested the game I'll post here at this forum.

Typically the Intel GMA graphics are not enough to run most games. Many times they are not supported, and while they will work sometimes, in an environment where they are having to translate commands it probably isn't going to do it.
