Won't start on Mac (Steam Version)

Hey guys,

I have a Macbook Pro 13", 2.2ghz, 4gb RAM, 320gb 7200RPM HDD, and a 9400m 256mb. I've been running Dragon Age fine for the past week or so using build 8.1.4, but all of a sudden it doesn't want to start. I double click it in my Steam list, and choose to launch the game, then nothing happens. I don't get an error or even the boot image that pops up before the game starts. I can get into the launcher, and the configuration, but nothing I've tried has made a difference. Here's a list of things I've tried so far:

Reinstalling Dragon Age through Steam (on the same bottle)
Changing resolutions/video settings/DirectX levels
Checking integrity of files through Steam
Defragmenting files through Steam
Starting through the Launcher

Another thing to note, I have 13 other games on the same bottle, all of which work fine and none have been installed in the past day or so. The only one giving me problems is Dragon Age.

Hi,

This may be just coincidence, but there was a Steam update in the last 24hours...

Did you happen to notice at all if the problem manifest itself after this update?

Cheers!

Come to think of it, yeah. I forgot that I had to restart steam for an update before I went to work. Guess I'm going to have to wait for another update to fix it, unless anyone has a solution.

Thanks Don.

Update:

I did some research and found a couple threads that were eventually combined into one that explains some problems that people had with the newest update to Dragon Age.

Fix for Dragon Age crashes

I tried all of these fixes except for the one for D2D (where you download EADM) with no success. I also reinstalled the PhysX drivers, which didn't help either. I read in a forum that changing the shortcut location fixed one guys problem, I'm not entirely sure how to do that through Steam though.

Update #2:

After many other attempts at trying to fix this aggravating issue, I decided to go back to the one that seemed to fix most peoples problems. Installing the VC Redistributable. Apparently it doesn't work the way I expected it to, and you have to place it into your bin_ship folder before you install it for it to work. I got it to work though, and am happily slaying Darkspawn. Learn something new every day, eh?

Edit: It seems that it will only launch once per install of the VC Redistributable, after that it continues to fail when launching.

Edit #2: Ok, I'm completely lost on how to fix it now. It seems that I can only launch Dragon Age within a few seconds of installing VC++, and can only use the .exe in the bin_ship folder. Using Steam to launch it doesn't work. After launching the game, VC++ brings up a window asking me to restart (it doesn't do this if I don't get the game to launch), and nothing works. I tried restarting the Mac itself, Crossover, the bottle, or just ignoring it. Any of those that I try ends with Dragon Age still unplayable after I quit the program. I also installed Mass Effect and got the same thing with VC++, and am completely lost on how to fix it, any help would be appreciated.
