Heavy graphics errors freezing the game up

I have tried installing this game on a 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 27" iMac (brand new), with 4 GB ram, Mac OS X v10.6.2 and ATI Radeon HD 4670 graphics with 256 MB virtual memory. I don't know if that's enough (the graphics part), but then again, I'm not the expert.

It took some time to get this to work on CrossOver, but with some regedit tinkering (thanks Don, Brian and Luis Garcia), the game finally started up. Then came the next problem.

I press 'new game', and the intro movie starts (without video, of course). Then the 'create character' menu appears. The face of the character isn't there - only the hair, floating eyeballs and the outline of where the eyelids should have been. When the graphics are set to 'low', the background isn't either. When the graphics are set to 'medium', the backgrounds reappear, but still without a face. I can live with that, though, if I can just play the game. Problem is, once I've configured my character and sat through the background story, the screen stays black. There are background noises, but I cannot create any game noises - not from walking, or trying to hit an 'ok'-button. I've tried hitting enter a couple of times as the first thing when this happens, in an attempt to bypass any messages requiring my 'ok' and create game noises, but to no avail. It seems like a standard game freeze.

This is a cry for help. Please assist me, so I can get to play this game - it would mean the world to me.

Thanks in advance,
Laurids Rye.

Hi,

Could you also confirm which version of crossover-games you are using please?

Cheers!

Of course. I'm using version 8.0.1 (8.0.0).

Again, thanks in advance. =)

You are using Crossover, not Crossover-Games? If this is the case,
I can attest you will see those sors of graphics glitches due to
differences between the two releases. I know this for sure, I have
a number of titles that will do exactly tthe same thing)

If you -are- using Crossover-Games, please update to the 8.1.4 release.

If you are -not- using Crossover-Games, please download the 8.1.4 demo
of Crossover-Games, and see if that remedies this issue.

Let us know how you get on - if you've any further questions feel free
to ask away ;)

Cheers!

Hehe, didn't know that there was a difference.

I'm very new to this whole Mac thing, as you may or may not have guessed. Would I have to reinstall the game, or can I use the same bottle from Crossover?

<EDIT>: Nevermind, I'm reinstalling wjile writing this - a bit impatient with my new toy. =)

Will post how it goes. Thanks for the help, Don.

You should be able to archive the bottle in question, install crossover-games,
and then restore the archive into the crossover-games environment using the
bottle manager...see the online docs about this;

Cheers!

I ended up reinstalling the game, but it works now - after the soundfix was done, there seems to be no discernible bugs or glitches. If I find any, or if my game ends up crashing all the time, I'll be back. =)

Thanks for all your help, man. You've been a friend in my hour of need. I truly appreciate it.
Laurids Rye.
