DLC and addons

Has anyone got the DLC working with the Steam version?
I've got this problem: http://help.dragonage.com/cgi-bin/eadragonage.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=23666&p_sid=dO1V8_Mj&p_lva=23638&p_accessibility=0&p_redirect=
but since there is no actual windows running i can't seem to be able to fix it.

The updater service appears to not be able to run in Crossover Games 8.0. I have had the same issue since release. If anyone knows how to fix it the error is:

The command "/Users/davidfrancis/Library/Application Support/CrossOver Games/Bottles/winxp/drive_c/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/common/dragon age origins/bin_ship/daupdatersvc.service.exe" returned 255.

StdOut:

StdErr:install the Windows version of Mono to run .NET executables

I get the same error message. I tried using the unpacked add-ons from another computer and they do not recognize as well but this maybe because I wasn't able to use the updater.

Also the "Downloadable Content" in game does not seem to work. Shows nothing available at all.

I tried to install Mono.

No error returns on the daupdatesvc.service.exe. But still cannot run daupdater.exe. Is there a way to set services inside of wine/crossover?

You can manually install the DLC's (but not the buyable content afaik).

  1. unzip the .dazip with a unzip program like unarchiver.
    there you see a manifest.xml and a content folder.
    Put the files in the content folder in the respective folders in your ~/Documents/Bioware/Dragen Age Folder.
    Stuff goes either in AddIns or a subfolder of packages or both.
  2. Open the Manifest.xml
    This should look something like this:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?>
<Manifest Type="AddIn">
<AddInsList>
<AddInItem UID="du_nohat" Name="Combat Helms" ExtendedModuleUID="Single Player" Priority="100" Enabled="1" State="2" Format="1">
<Title DefaultText="Helm Removal">
...

<FileList>
<Folder src="packages/" Type="package"/>
<Folder src="addins/" Type="addin"/>
</FileList>
</AddInItem>
</AddInsList>
</Manifest>

then open the AddIns.xml in your ~/Documents/Bioware/Dragon Age/Settings Folder.

copy the ```<AddInItem>STUFF </AddInItem>``` tag from the Manifest.xml in the ```<AddInsList> </AddInsList>``` Tag in the AddIns.xml File. First the Tag is empty. So you need to change ```<AddInsList/>``` to ```<AddInsList> </AddInsList>``` manually.

I had no Luck to install official downloadble content like the shane mod. But I can log in ingame an even update my online profile.

I've been testing DAO in both Wine and Crossover.

So far DLC will not work in either once you login. I copied my Bioware folder over from my Windows install which includes all my DLC (inc Shale and Wardens Peak) If I login when I start game those DLC are "unauthorised" but if I Log out then i can play using all DLC.

It's a work around but it seems to work fine enough, allows me to play but not update my online profile

How do you get the DLC?

I'm using CXG 9.0.0rc2, and the Task Manager on the bottle says the updater service is running. And the daupdater.exe runs fine. But in-game I have zero content available. I'm guessing the updater service is not running entirely as it should under CXG.

But again, daupdater.exe is working. Where do I get the DAZIP files?

Thanks for the great info on how to install DLC manually. Just to update, I have found a way to update DLC using the daupdater (which took a whole day of trails). I finally managed to get DLC's installed properly using crossover 8.0 (not to be confused with crossover games). Here are the details of how I did it.
If you have tried using crossover games to open up the daupdater, you may have gotten an error saying "install windows version of Mono to run .NET executables"
Using crossover, I made a new bottle and installed .NET framework 2.0 (easily found using google, free download).
Using this bottle I ran daupdater.exe and installed my dazip's.
thats all it took, it installed all my dazips including the stone prisoner and the wardens keep.
hope this helps anyone trying the same thing

DOA-Modmanager is a thirdparty application that runs on .net 3.0. I have been using this to manage my game addons as well as third party (unofficial) mods. The program throws a benign error here and there but I've been using it successfully (Dragon Age Confirms the Add-ons are installed once launched). The program also has the ability to launch the updater service, but I'm not fully sure how necessary that is.

I highly recommend the program to anyone having issues with the DLC (it can load the .dazip files automatically).

Hi,

If DOA-Modmanager is useful here, perhaps someone might consider creating a C4 page for it?
Such would fit into the 'games tools' category and could be made easily installable via the
C4P system -- such may be a very useful thing to ease the pain of other DOA players when it
comes to installing DLC content? I don't have this game myself, so somebody else would have
to do the leg work, but I can help you with a c4p for DOA-Modmanager if needs be.

Cheers!

If I could figure out exactly what you meant above (C4 page, "game tools") I would probably be willing to do the work. I also just put in an application to become an advocate, so if that's a necessity, hopefully it'll soon be met.

Take care,

Hi again,

Yeah, you'll need to be an advocate to do this kind of stuff,
once that's approved, then you can nominate to be an advocate
for DOA-Modmananger and so on and so forth...

If I get a spare moment, I'll submit the app for you so the C4
page actually exists for you...then you can go wild....

Thanks for taking this idea onboard!

Cheers!

edit: or not...I decided actually submitting/creating the C4 page
might be something you >want< to do...but it's easy...go here ;

Fill out that form. In 'application category' you should see 'game
tools' - fill in the description field as you see appropriate, then
submit it and one of the codeweaver's crew will put it online for you.
If you rather I do this, just yell 8)

Howdy Don,

Thanks for the push in the right direction. I've submitted the application for consideration so here's hoping. If both it and I get approved I'll sign up to advocate for it and submit some bugs and tips and tricks right away.

Cheers,
daemox

Great!

Just be aware the Ninjas/staff get incredibly busy when a new release comes
out, so it -might- take a little longer than normal for things to go through..

Cheers!

I can't seem to get the mod manager program working correctly. I get an unhandled exception on startup of the program (I have Net 3.0 installed). The .dazip's will load in the bottom window, but none of them will show as installed when I drag them to the left window associated with .dazip's. This is regardless of the updater service running or not. I'll give it another shot once I get home from work.

Hey,

The application has been added and I'm setup as an advocate for it. I've added a new forum post regarding it.

With that said (Mike Masterson), it sounds like you're doing exactly the same as me. Are you on Cross Over Games 9.1.0 or an earlier version? I've only ran it on 9.0 and 9.1.0. I'm new to this but I'll try to be as much help as possible.

And, thanks again Don for helping me to get going with this.

Salud,
daemox

Right now I am on Crossover Games 9.1.0 for OSX. I have a copy of 8.1.4 still on here, but I am pretty sure if I attempted to run it I would just be forced to update it.

I am not sure how, but so far the Mod Manager is working. I removed the Addins.xml from ~/Bioware/Dragon Age/Settings and replaced it with a stock one, then instead of copying my .dazip's to the folder in the DAO-Mod Manager directory, I pointed the directory to the folder on my storage drive that has the mods. I then restarted the program and they all loaded up in the Mod Manager fine.

Also, if it will help, this is the error I receive when I load the program. It seems harmless enough, as it is the same error with the .dazip's loading and not loading.
http://pastebin.com/8ZMbSQR0

The error you've listed looks bang on for the one I receive, I click Continue and don't receive any others (usually).

The .dazip files need to be placed in the /DAO-Modmanager/mods/dazip folder. If the Mod Mananger is running you need to change the sort drop down list from Show All to something else (like all overrides) and then back again. If this fails to bring up the .dazip you've copied into the /mods/dazip folder try closing and re-opening the Mod Manager (the manual says to have the Mod Manager shut down when you copy the .dazips to the /mods/dazip folder, but I've not had any problems just changing the sort drop down).

Once you have some .dazip files in the bottom frame, drag them up from the bottom frame to the top left frame to the "Installed DAzips".

If, unfortunately, the above describes what you have already tried. I'm not sure what to try from there. Could it be something dissimilar between Ubuntu and OS X or should the Wine environment be 1:1 between these two?

I might have edited my reply before you saw it. Everything works perfectly by moving the directory, I just checked in game also. :D

Rock on, glad to hear it!
