Runs perfectly with minimum graphics settings

This game runs perfectly except for prerendered cutscenes if you just have the graphics settings on low for everything. This is on Crossover Games 8.0 for Mac OSX on 10.6.1

Steam version?

Yeah the steam version, but I assume the normal version should work fine too provided it installs.

I can get it to run in low settings only. Also every characters face is in shades of orange, yellow, etc. I have been trying different Direct3D settings with no change. This is on an ATI4870 using CrossoverGames 8.0. Going to try wine...but their implementation of x windows usually does not work as well as Crossover's.

I haven't tried. I have the XBox360 version but the game is rapidly becoming a favorite of mine that I might eventually buy the PC version. I sort of like discs and manuals and stuff though so I've shied away from Steam anything, but it does seem like the Steam versions run a bit better under Crossover.

Running the Steam version at 1280x800 with medium details (second setting), no anti-aliasing, high textures and vertical sync.
Runs a little bit stuttery and the prerendered cutscenes are all dark but everything else is fine.

Crossover Games 8.0, Snow Leopard, 2 year-old MacBook Pro.

Does anyone know how to enter the "@" inside the game (email in the login screen)? I can't seem to be able to enter the ALT+L combination.

The retail version also installs and runs. The cut scenes show subtitles but no video. There are graphical errors as well. I wouldn't say the game is playable yet, but it could get there pretty easily. Also, no one here seemed to mention the lack of any audio. Does anyone else have no sound? The people on the wine boards for this game also report no sound.

Does the steam version have the video? What hardware are you on? Trying to sort some of the info as I don't have it on the PC and trying to decide which version might be worth it.

I have no audio issues on my steam version. I would say it is definitely playable on the steam version if you don't mind only getting the audio of the cutscenes and having lower than normal (but still acceptable) graphics settings. I have been playing the game like this without any real impact on my enjoyment.

If you are interested in hardware I have a 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM, GeForce 9400M Macbook.

Ok so from your above statement, you're not getting any cutscenes on the Steam version either?

Nah you do not see the non-ingame rendered cutscenes in the steam version either. You can get the audio and subtitles. I haven't gotten very far in the game so I am not sure how important they are in the playthrough of the story.

Ah ok, thx! I haven't gotten too far into the game on the XBox360 version as I've restarted a few times and you're probably right that it isn't necessary. They're worth watching once as they add a nice touch to the story visually but you can by withoout it.

I get a critical exception error just before the install finishes, en the game will not start at all. I'm using 10.6.1 and the latest Crossover Games Mac. I've tried both an XP bottle and a Vista bottle, with the same results. Anyone else?

Also, while the config program will run, selecting any of the menu items (Video, Audio, etc) just brings a blank window, as if it was unable to read my hardware at all. It does, however, accurately list my system specs, so it knows that I've got.

I get as far as the startscreen with 'options', 'play' etc. Whatever comes after that, don't know. Nothing works. The configure screen pops up though, there is mentioned that the DirectX version is not good. Not succeeded in updating yet.
I think this is a good moment to use some of the support I've bought with my CrossOver Professional license ;)

I have same problem.

Have you tried a fresh bottle? And is this the steam or normal version?

So how exactly is Codeweavers improving the support of any given software like Dragon Age? Since I got it, the Crossover Games application is still at version 8.0 and I don't remember applying any patches.
I'm asking because there seems to be some progress with the Wine users, some are even running the game with full details and at 1920x1200.

crossover games is at 8.1 there has been improvements on a lot of games.
you have to understand require people to vote for games this way they know the "popular" games, left 4 dead 2 is number 1 in the top 25 and this new realease is dedicated to left 4 dead 2, so they are working on the programs, just have to have a little patience they get to all the programs they can.

Vertical sync doesn't work. I recommend you keep it turned off. It probably doesn't make any difference either way.

You may need to tell CrossOver to treat your Alt as a way to access additional characters. Go to CrossOver's preferences, the Keyboard and Mouse tab. The default configuration is to have the left Alt (Option) key send an Alt key event to the Windows program, rather than access additional characters.

I have just tested this game with both CXG 8.1.4 and the latest WINE 1.1.39

In WINE game runs just about flawlessly, full graphic details and AA turned on. In CXG needs to be run in min graphics detail with no AA and opening movie does not work.

Both CXG and WINE have the DLC issue (for me DLC is not usable unless I stay "logged out")

So I'm looking forward to next release of CXG which should resolve outstanding graphics issues on this title.

Is this still valid today?
Is Dragon Age running better through WINE then in CXG 9.1 on the Mac?
If so why is that?

I've used CXG 9.1 on Linux and I've never gotten the DLC to work. I've read that copying the DLC from a Windows install has worked for some people, but I haven't had any success with that.
