Game crashing PLEASE HELP

Hi everyone!

I made an account on this site JUST to ask for help with these. Let me tell you a story. To skip to the actual problem just read the next paragraph. For days I have been trying to play DAO in my Mac. It is a game that is IMPOSSIBLE to obtain -I live in Peru- as an original copy for the XBOX or for the Mac. I got a PC copy OUT OF LUCK (I am going through some financial difficulties so please don’t tell me to get the Mac version). The thing is I can’t get it to work. I have tried everything I can and I am no programmer myself. I have followed every tutorial, tried every solution posted on this page an on many others but I can’t play.

When the game began, at first, it immediately crashed and closed. After doing some twitching I could get past the menu and onto the first video. However, as soon as the character creation screen pops up the same message appears and it crashes and closes. I have tried everything in the .ini file that is suggested here and I am playing with the lowest settings possible and still no results. When the game does run (the videos) it rans flawlessly... Until it crashes.

PLEASE HELP.

Specs:

2.4 GHz Intel Core i5
4GB Ram
Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB
Lion 10.7.3

Saludos, Mariana,

Disculpa la tardanza.

My first recommendations would be to make sure you are using a recent version of Crossover, and that you install DAO via the crosstie file.

The other thing would be the experimental Mac driver. I don't use Mac so I forget which is the default value.

How to enable the Mac Driver:

  1. Launch CrossOver and go to Configure>Manage Bottles
  2. Select your bottle and click the 'Advanced' button
  3. Check the 'Enable experimental Mac Driver' box

Then launch DAO.

If that driver is already checked, then try unchecking it.
