If you use a controller, note that in the native Mac version of this game the controller doesn't fully work. The PC version has no problem. So it's better to play the PC version on your Mac using CrossOver.
Specifically, the "start" button (or "select", I forget) which should bring up the map, doesn't. And L3 (pushing down the L-stick) which should sort the inventory, doesn't. This is due a change in MacOS starting in Catalina. And Larian Studios currently has no plans to update DOS1.
