I was able to get Divinity 2 to run successfully on a 24" iMac running OS X 10.6. I've had one crash after about two hours of game play, so it's been playable.
Divinity 2 is installed in a WinXP bottle from the DVD. The following items were installed:
- DirectX 9.0c (included in the DVD)
- nVidia PhysX (included in the DVD)
- Windows Media Player (from the Install dialog, search for Media, and choose Microsoft Media Player Sound Engine 10)
- Install the WMR codecs for Win XP from Microsoft's Web site: http://download.microsoft.com/download/a/0/3/a0398036-25b9-410c-b371-c59957c1b0f4/WM9Codecs.exe
Run the updater for the game.
The issue with the game not recognizing the DVD (and therefore not launching the game) is still there. You'll have to figure out how to get around that one.
Once the game tried to launch, I received a "Couldn't create renderer" error message. Changing the Wine settings to use a simulated desktop corrected this. (Wine Configuration > Graphics > Emulate a Virtual Desktop and enter a resolution.)
The game then launched for me. I went through character creation and have played part of the first portion of the game successfully.
The First Aid Kit on the Larian web site was very helpful: http://www.larian.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=403286&an=
Also, the Wine thread for this game also has some useful hints: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=22900
