Yes I bought this game knowing it wasn't looking very good for running it under Crossover, but as I backup I have a Windows PC if I must. However, given the apparent gameplay focus rather than overtly flashy graphics, and looking at the recommended specifications, I thought it worth a try. I also did note that there were some issues with other games from the publisher and developer of this game for users trying to run them on Apple Hardware. Additionally the game wasn't all that cheap, so I would like to play it in a manner I desire, rather than having to fall back on a Windows based PC.
I've tried both XP & Win 7 bottles, but have fallen back to the XP bottle for trouble shooting. The apparent problem manifests the same under both bottles. I have also loaded it onto my Windows PC (sigh) and the game will load without issue (Win 7 SP1 64 bit).
The installation of Steam proceeds as normal, and the game installs in Steam. The initial Spash Screen / Loader comes up, has sound, appears to recognise the cursor, but won't start anything else from the Loader.
After going through requirements one by one in the bottle, and against the games specifications, I've added .Net 3.5, .Net 4.0 & XNA Framework 4.0 via Crossover installation processes. All of these have proceeded as expected. After also adding Media Player 10 & IE 8, I've managed to get the Loader to respond to the next Splash Screen. I'd like to get this game working under Crossover, I have no reason to use my Windows PC these days since the purchase of my last iMac.
There appear to be about a dozen Wineloader processes running after "launching" the game from the Loader, but even after waiting 5 mins, there still appears to be no further response from the game. Interestingly I can click on the Website "button" and it will launch IE 8 to take me to the website.
I've tinkered with disabling Performance Enhanced Graphics as well as toggled the window manager settings from Graphics Tab of Wine Configuration but had no noticeable improvement. It might need a Library Override, but I'm unsure where to proceed in this direction.
System:
OS X 10.9.4
Crossover 13.2.0.27771
iMac 27" 3.5GHz i7
32 Gig RAM
Nvidia GTX 780
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
