I wasn't able to get too far with this the installer worked and exited fine but when I fire up the program it complains the CD is not there and it can not load the diabdat.mpq file. I am using an original CD to play the game.

Yeah, it looks like it has regressed in 4.1 ☹️.
Your best bet might be to grab a copy of 3.0.1 and install
that into a separate user account; the instructions in this forum
should work.
Sorry about that; we've got a great volunteer working with
us to try to get a regression test going so that this won't
happen again (it'll be fixed in 5.0).

If you mount your game CD and them cd to that directory
and run the game from there what happens?
