I can't seem to get past the splash screen. It keeps asking for a disc, which I have and is in the drive. It doesn't seem to work though. If anyone could give me any assistance I'd greatly appreciate it, thanks.

If you want to play Diablo I recommend using this mod:

Vanilla Diablo does not work properly on Wine.
It's working awesome now! Thanks! Any way to get it to run in full screen?
Nevermind, I got it figured out. Thanks again!
Ok, I have the game running, but there's no sound and any time I try to talk to someone the game freezes. There's an OpenAL file mentioned in the readme, but it doesn't clarify where it needs to go. Sorry to be a pest, any help you can give is greatly appreciated.
The openal32.dll file is supposed to be in the game dir. I added an override in Wine Config for it. There's a tutorial on this page about changing various wine settings:

I've gotten sound going after setting up OpenAL32.dll, so that's something. However the game still locks up any time I attempt to talk to anyone in town. Also there doesn't seem to be any available option to save the game. Thanks again for the assistance.
Diablo, as I recall, never had multiple save files. The option was to "save on exit". No idea why it would lock up when talking to NPCs. Maybe a debug log could clear things?

I ran a log. Didn't know which boxes I should check. I think I may have isolated the portion of the log that has recorded the error:

Really frustrating of course, since many other people have been able to get this to work. Thanks again for all the help.
