Tried the new 11.1.0 bottle and most components seem to work but, for whatever reason, my sandy bridge gpu (eg, HD Graphics X000 series) is failing some direct 3D tests. The start dialog indicates that a driver update should mitigate the issue. This GPU is known to work with this application in windows environments.
Some direction would be appreciated (discrete is not currently an options; this is a notebook).

SOLVED
Good news is this was solved; but it took some digging.
The missing feature was a mesa lib that does not come by default in ubuntu because of licensing issues:
sudo apt-get install libtxc-dxtn-s2tc-bin
Additionally, cxoffice must be run with an environment variable set for this to hook:
force_s3tc_enable=true cxrun
Same problem with IvyBridge graphics on Gentoo Linux.
Installing package media-libs/libtxc_dxtn version 1.0.1 did the trick:
emerge media-libs/libtxc_dxtn
No need for the ENV var change here.
