The expansion says I don't have the core game

I'm trying to install Diablo II:LOD, after installing Diablo II. Diablo II runs great, but after the LOD installer downloads, it says that I don't have Diablo II installed.
I'm installing them to the same bottle, but I can't seem to resolve this issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
