I refer here to the original game release v1.0 - the installation
media is (1) CD disc. This title does install correctly with COG 7.2.2
and linux into a new bottle using the win98 profile, however the install
procedure needs to be modified a little to complete properly (see tips&tricks)
The game should be patched (twice) to get some extra game features, but this
is optional. DO NOT install the directx-8 files on the disk!
The game's intro/cut-scene movies all require a native 640x480 screen
resolution to run, same goes for the game's launcher/main-menu screen.
The screen resolution of the game itself can be changed, however the
screen resolutions offered are all made for 4:3 aspect display devices.
For those of us with widescreen 16:9/10 display hardware, this will mean
running COG in windowed mode (Emulate a virtual desktop). Games does steal
the mouse when running.
Interoperability between the game's launcher/menu process (DC.exe), the
intro/movie player (Quicktime 5) and the actual game itself (sim.exe),
is slightly fractured under COG, however the work-around is fairly simple,
and the game itself runs well once you know how to get around this -- see
the tips&tricks here for info on all this.
