Hi,,,
...well, without sugar coating it, you purchased the wrong
release of the game, to suit your computing needs. Click on
the 'Details' tab here-above, have a look at the page -- it
says this title runs good enough to be worthy a gold medal
ranking, and under that you can see the 'Distributor Comparison
Table' ...and that is telling you the CD/DVD version is known
not to work, but that the Steam release -does- work ..ergo,
the gold medal most likely refers to the Steam release ... =)
...because you have a Mac, and Apple's scsi driver is the way
it is, 99.98% of all CD/DVD disc release that use disc based DRM
(copy protection) are not going to work for you (and many don't
work in linux either) ; it is that simple. If it were me, I'd
feign complete computer user ignorance, and return the disc for
refund under the auspices of 'incorrect purchase -- you didn't
realize the disc wouldn't work in OSX'.. =)
..some diac based DRM I've seen before, does this when the installer
is trying launch the embedded securom (de)cryption process in the
background to (un)crunch the files, and the first thing it does is
try to access the disc media in a manner that macos doesn't allow,
and everything crashes and burns...and by the looks of it, in the
linux case this bit works, but, when you go to launch the game itself
another DRM layer fails...ugly...
..so I'm afraid there no way anyone can help you with that disc based
release, and as I say, try to avoid buying this media ; presently,
it is always going to cause you hassles like this on the Mac. Attempt
to buy digital download versions instead...goodgrief.. I just noticed
this game is like $60+ from steam, but if I lived in the US or Canada,
I can get it from Direct2Drive for $10...??...what on earth is the go there...
Cheers
