DCU Online

Has anyone gotten this game to work with Crossover Games on a Mac???

From my understanding, it does not work on Wine (the underlying software behind crossover). This is due to a networking issue, the game will install, and run, but will not connect to servers. More information can be found at winehq.

I play DCUO using wine 1.3.12 (also tested on 1.3.11). The only thing I needed to do was install IE8 (yeah I know). The game suffers the same problem as most based on the unreal engine, the mouse doesn't reset properly at the edge of the window (awkward when turning is done via the mouse but there is a patch that fixes the problem, it's part of a bug report whose number I can't find atm).

Great that someone got it to wok, sooo the next logical question is how? I downloaded the client installer, but I tried using the installer in Crossover Games, I couldn't get it to proceed. So I tried to run the installer from the run command, it started it, but I couldn't create a new bottle to put it in. It installed some of the stuff but, it locked up.... figures eh?.

So I am assuming that I can't use the downloaded installer, but need a DVD copy of the software, I bought the game via steam on my laptop pc... but I want to play it on my Mac. The next question is... where can I get the IE8, which I assume has to go into the same bottle. Soooo...help!!

I've not tried it on CXG 10 but to get it installed on CXG 9 I grabbed the c4p file for IE8, editted it and change the reference to cxoffice to cxgames (otherwise I wouldn't have been able to use it). Used that as my base install and then ran the installer for DCUO.

It will install/download but currently crashes when trying to launch the game itself but under wine it does launch, crashes sometimes but that could be a DCUO problem rather than wine one.

Well, I got the game installed using the DVDs, and got the same error message that I got for Everquest 2 extended, that is "Sorry, there was an error initialing launchpad. Please make sure you are connected to the internet and try again."
I installed everything that is required for EQ2-extended since it is made by Sony. But, to no avail.... Any ideas???

This error message seems to be the same for me, on all Sony products with the exception of SWG. Go figure...

I got it to work. I've been running it for the last two days and it seems to be working fine. No glitches. :)

I initially tried to install it but it failed when it hung for too long, but then I tried it again using the Star Trek Online option as my install (and what comes with that package) and then running the online install file for DCU. It looked like it would not work at first, because you get a gray box and a DCU options box, but that seems to settle itself after it starts downloading and I guess the DirectX9 kicks in.

This is what I have in my bottle:

CrossOver HTML Engine
DC Universe Online Live
DirectX 9
Flash 10 ActiveX Control
Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0
Microsoft DirectX Runtime - Modern
MS Internationalized Domain Names Mitigation APIs
MS National Language Support Downlevel APIs
MS VIsual C++ 2005 Redistributable
MS VIsual C++ 2008 Redistributable
MS XML Parser
MS XML Parser (MSXML) 3.0
msls31

Oh. I also had to turn off IE6 that was first in my bottle as you need to resort to Safari or Firefox to register your ID with Sony before it lets you download the 12.0 GB game.

I have almost completed a way to run DCUO on the mac. So far no bugs... lets keep it that way.

ok so, i've got it installed, and the portal works fine, but after i clicked on play button, the splash screen comes on, ie: SOE logo, DC logo, etc.

but then... black screen,

i've done some research, it seems like a common problem, but no1 seems to know how to fix it
