"No CD Drive Found" error with dBpoweramp CD Ripper on Mac OS X

I am trying to use dBpoweramp CD Ripper, and it will not recognize the CD Drive.

I've checked forums on CodeWeavers and dBpoweramp sites as well as general searches. Some people claim success, but it is unclear if they are running Linux or Mac OS X, and solutions are vague or non-existent. This setup seems very close to working, but I can't figure it out. Any suggestions out there? Details of my setup, problem, and attempted fixes are below:

Hardware: MacBookPro with Intel i7 processor and internal CD/DVD drive
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.7.2 (Lion)
CrossOver: version 10.2.0 (trial version)
dBpoweramp: version 14.2 reference

I initially tried using dBpoweramp CD Ripper with the open source version of Wine. I installed Wine using MacPorts and then installed the dBpoweramp software. That all seemed fine, and the CD Ripper program opened fine, but it would not recognize the CD drive. I could see the CD drive and its contents using the Wine Explorer, and navigating to ~/.wine/dosdevices/ showed the following link:
d:: --> /dev/rdisk1
When I inserted a disk, the following additional link appeared:
d: --> /Volumes/<disc name>

I tried setting the CD ROM Communication setting in dBpoweramp CD Ripper to all of the options: SCSI Pass Through (SPT), Windows Internal [For Limited Accounts], ASPI, and SCSI Pass Through Read (D8). They all gave the same error message, "No CD Drive Found", and the ASPI option caused the program to hang for a long time when it was first opened.

I tried using winecfg to setup the drive links. If I changed the type to CD-ROM, it CD Ripper would show that drive letter but it kept asking for a disc to be inserted and did not show the inserted disc. I tried this with a new drive mapping and also by modifying the drive mapping that was generated when I inserted a disc (so that it pointed to the device /dev/rdisk1 ).

I then tried using CrossOver and had essentially the same results. (I must say, the installation of CrossOver was much easier and, had it worked, would have been worth paying for.)

Hi...

...look, to be honest here, I wouldn't bother using
a win32 app for this -- the task involved is simplistic
and although I don't use the iMac for this (the optical
drives in iMacs are too slow), but if I had to I'd be
using a native/open source offering... lemme see.. ( /me
boots the imac out of debian and into osx)...

...for a start, I'm suspicious if this works on OSX (due
to apple's cobbled scsi driver) at all - with CD games
that have disc based DRM, they always fail in OSX for the
same reason -- no hardware direct access via scsi ; perhaps
it hits this app as well. When I look at the medal breakdown
for this app, this is 1 gold for mac(?), a couple of 'known
not to work' for mac, so I dunno.. nothing here convinces
me this -ever- worked on the mac =)..

..I just had a poke thru macports, and, I'm sort of surprised
I can't find any cdrip GUI program...ie; ripperx or such, but
there are all the required libraries and helpers available,
and the commandline ripper (abcde) .. cdparanoia ...mmh, there
is enough there to get this happening via macports...and ripperx
or mp3c should compile okay...

..I know I'm not helping here (wrt the app), I'm just saying
there are easier ways (and although I don't ever buy macapps,
I'd be reasonably sure same exist)...

Cheers!
