Hello, fellow amateurs! I am antenna-restricted so that I use Hampshire and CQ100 . CQ100 suffers latency problems with VMWare Fusion and Parallels for Mac. This is an iMac on El Capitan with a 2.7GHz quad-core Intel i5 and 8GB RAM. Both virtual machines use all my resources and more than 3GB of my RAM. In trial mode, I have repeatedly attempted to install CQ100 on CrossOver but it failed with error message "DLL Not Found."
Today I had success! I was able to log in and view the transceiver.. On attempting to enter the interface , the mouse dragged the transceiver image around the screen so the controls were inaccessible. However, I worked around that by hitting "Esc" twice so that I could manipulate controls within the interface. On leaving the interface, I had to hit "Esc" twice to enter it again.
Once I enter the interface of CQ100, controls work as expected except for Mic Gain and Volume. These are controlled by the Mac. The internal mic works well and I get full audio deflection on the meter. I made a nice contact this morning and got a great audio report. I also had a short CW quo and that system works as expected, too. Response to my commands is as fast as that on a Windows machine.
I added the qsoTV module to view pictures hams send through the system. It, too, works as expected.
The only issue I have may be a driver issue. When I attempt to attach my USB mc in the program's interface, it properly disappears from Sound in System Preferences. CQ100 shows mic is connected but there is no audio deflection on the meter. I would like to resolve this issue. If anybody on the forum knows a solution, please advise. Otherwise, I will contact tech support when trial mode is over. Thank you...Arthur.
CQ100, qsoTV and CrossOver for Mac as a group use less than 200 MB of RAM. I will be thrilled beyond belief if the system continues to work well over the next two weeks.
I have used trial mode several times in the past but had no success installing CQ100, the only Windows program that I must use on the Mac.. Now that CQ100 is working, I'll be sure CrossOver handles it over the next 14 days and then purchase CrossOver for Mac.
