Screen messed up

After the latest update with crossover the original games like counter-strike, counter-strike condition zero, and day of defeat dont load right. After I start the game from steam it shows me the menu screen without any choices then the screen gets smaller with the choices on it. They worked fine in the last version of crossover. I dont want to use the old versions again because now the source games work perfectly. Day of Defeat source has no issues and so does Counter-Strike source. Please help.

I'm not entirely sure I understand what you're describing. These games generally work properly in CrossOver 6.1.

It sounds like maybe you've set an unsupported resolution. Check your launch options (right-click the game in the Steam list, select Properties, and press the Launch Options button). Make sure you don't specify a resolution there that your display can't support. You may want to just reduce the launch options to just "-novid".

If that doesn't help, you might try adding "-dxlevel 80" to the options for one run only. When you do that, the game should ignore all of its saved graphics settings and come up with safe defaults. During the one run, set your video options to your preferred settings, then quit. Remove that launch option and when you start it again it should remember the options you saved.

The screen after I launch the game has the music still playing and if I put my mouse were the options should be I hear the noise of the selection. I don't know how to explain it. You need to play the game to know. I used the -dxlevel 80 and -novid. No change.

I'm having the exact same problem. . .so yeah. . . anyway to fix?

Does it work any better if you use "-window" in the launch options?

Alternatively, does it work any better if you set the bottle to emulate a virtual desktop in a window? To set that up: Manage Bottles > Control Panel > winecfg > Graphics > Emulate a virtual desktop, then restart any Windows applications running that bottle.

Same Thing Happens To Me! 😭
