Dropping Support for Counter Strike (and many others)

So I have been thinking, we are less than a month away from Steam on Mac and with it, CSS, TF2, CS, HL, Portal (and 2), L4D (and 2), others.

So will CXG be dropping dev for these games?? I would assume so since who would play a wine port when Valve has ported all of those titles to run natively.

This would also be good because then CXG team can focus efforts on games that are not supported like MW2 and BF2, etc.

Also, Steam for Mac beta Applications can be found here, sign up if you wish.

People on Linux will. It's only native on Mac.

Indeed...

That being said, there are remours that there will be a native steam and HL2 based games for linux too. That would be nice but I am not holding my breath!

Yep, just rumours, nothing official.

I think it is rather ridiculous to drop the support for the Windows version to make it work on Linux at least, since aving a Mac version of a same program means that it's code even on Windows is easy to port to *nix platforms and is therefore Unix friendly. CS:S still needs to be supported and there might still be some bugs even if the game runs pretty smoothly.

It tried it several times.... crashed very often while loading servers. He handles very badly theming sounds.

well..its kinda official that the source engine ( which HL2 games uses ) is being ported to Linux..

apart from that , we would still have to wait and see how the situation plays out
