CSS freezes after 10 min.

Fresh installed CS:S, I run it thru CrossOver Games 8.1.0. I start a off-line game with couple bots and play for around 10 minutes and then all of a sudden it freezes. I either have to force quit or restart computer.

My comp specs:
10.5.8
2.93GHz iMac 24"
ATI HD Radeon 4850

Another note: I tried installing CODMW2 and ran few terminal commands (in return idk if they worked) and since then, this prompt comes up whenever I launch CrossOver. What should I do?

have you tried CxGames 8.1.3 ?
try the latest one (:

this also REALLY helps. Don't run the game in the highest resolution (i.e. widescreen in highest resltn.) keep it at Normal (4:3). Also maybe setting the game to Direct x8.1 instead of 9.0 (if it's set to 9.0), do that by going to Counter strike Source in ur 'My Games' tab on Steam, right-click properties>Launch options>type in -dxlevel 81 and click ok. Restart the game, quit game and go back to launch options again and remove -dxlevel 81 from launch options and hit ok. Play the game again and u shouldn't have any problems.

Regarding ur second problem, I don't want to give u a wrong answer, but could u possibly uninstall CrossOver and resinstall it again? I tried doing so and I didn't lose Steam nor the games that came with it, and no user-perferences were lost in Steam either.

For your second problem I would recommend inserting the disk it prompts you for, or if you really don't want to do that check off Do not ask again, and press use Crossover without Quartz. I would HIGHLY recommend inserting the Mac OS X disc it asks for, as Quartz is important for some aspects of functionality. This OS install disk should have come with your computer, or if you have upgraded to a newer version it would be in that box.

Also, I'm very interested to find out how games like Half Life 2, and Team Fortress 2 work for you, as I also have a 24 inch iMac that crashes after a certain amount of high performance use; where many other users don't have this problem.

Hmm. That dialog suggests that you have either removed or broken the quartz-wm program that comes with Mac OS X.

That dialog shouldn't ever be necessary on Leopard. On Tiger, it was pretty common that folks didn't have quartz-wm installed, but with Leopard it comes installed by default. Apple changed things a bit with Snow Leopard, so that it's not installed if you turn off the installation of X11 when you install the OS. However, if you do that, you still don't get that dialog. Either CrossOver completely fails to launch, or it presents a different dialog suggesting that you install X11.

At this point, your best bet is probably to reinstall Apple's X11. You can do that using your OS install discs or download and install the latest "Combo Updater" for your version of Mac OS X from Apple's support pages.

Well I tried the suggestion of playing it in 4:3 mode, and so far so good, has not stopped or freeze unexpectedly. I think I will try to reinstall X11 incase. Thanks everyone for all your input!

You're most welcome. This stuff typically happens with Valve games or CS/HL mods, so keeping it at 4:3 is the most promising solution thus far =\
