After launching a Video Stress Test I have a freeze and stuck. Only way to quit game - Control+Q, which closes CrossOver Games.
The settings are: all Recommended for my System and 1440x900 resolution.
My System: MacBook Pro MA895 w/4Gb RAM, Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.3, CX Games 7, latest Steam client.
You can try to isolate the problem a bit. Try cl_drawmonitors 0, r_waterdrawreflection 0, r_waterdrawrefraction 0, r_shadowrendertotexture 0 in the console, and try setting the shader quality to low. If it works, reenable some of the settings to see which "fixed" it. This gives a bit more information about what is brken.
I didn't do the tricks you mentioned, but used the latest nighty - and everything works great, except bad rendering of some effects.
